Colorado fan Posted January 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2013 Can anyone tell me where Pirana Joe's is located? We are arriving on Celebrity Constellation in Februrary. The shirts at Pirana Joe's are made well and look great. also looking for a honest cigar shop. Thanks for the help.

MaccaMom Posted January 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2013 There is also a Piranha Joe's at the dock at Coxen Hole. I visited that store just a few days ago, on Thursday.
MpwdMom Posted January 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Pirana Joe's is number 14 in blue on the Mahogany Bay map. Is Mahogany Bay where you get off the ship or do you have to take a taxi there?
eandj Posted January 17, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2013 Is Mahogany Bay where you get off the ship or do you have to take a taxi there? Carnival owned ships...including HAL and Princess dock there. The others dock at Coxen Hole.
MpwdMom Posted January 17, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2013 Thank you!! This will be our first time in Roatan. (we're excited but have so much about the sand fleas, so a little worried)
Oldgoat61 Posted January 19, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2013 We have docked at Mahogany Bay before, but never Coxen Hole. Do the cruise ships that dock at Coxen have their own "shopping area" like Mahogany Bay, or is it independent from the cruise ships? Thanks:)
texancruzer Posted January 19, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2013 Mahogany Bay is a little village " port " that Carnival Corp built. It is kind of their version of a private island area where they get a cut of all the shops profits and more money from food, drinks etc.... it is somewhat Disney-like and will not give you a true feeling of the island. But if you just want to get off and sit on a man made beach and do a bit of over priced shopping...... then it is perfect. Coxen Hole is the main town of Roatan and not anything like Mahogany Bay. There are a few shops within the secure port area before you go out the gates but not much. There isn't really a nice beach nearby either. To really experience Roatan you need to get out of either of these areas and see some of this gorgeous island. It is still fairly undeveloped and therefore still like the Caribbean was years ago. The people are friendly and the views amazing. For some really great shopping head to West End Village. Shops, bars, restaurants and art galleries. They just paved the main street there so nicer to walk around too. And the sand fleas can be a problem especially in rainy season...... and if they tend to like you anyway. They like warm moist sand. They don't really like me so I only got a bite or two on my last one week stay in December (rainy season)
