BellaLunatic Posted January 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2013 Should I make my snorkeling bag my carry-on and put other items in that bag? I also thought this snorkel bag would be a good spot to smuggle some liquor too ;).
paul929207 Posted January 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2013 Will your snorkle bag meet the airline requirements for a carry on?
BellaLunatic Posted January 19, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted January 19, 2013 I am not flying. I get to drive right up to wharf. Also thinking I do not need flippers because I think we will only be doing shore snorkeling.
paul929207 Posted January 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2013 Then you can carryon as much as you can handle. It just need to go thru the scanner like they have at airport security. Depending on the cruise line and when you board, your cabin may not be ready so you could be carrying around the carryons for a while.
Bonnie J. Posted January 19, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2013 Your bag will be xrayed and you will lose you smuggled liquor. You won't get it back the last night, it'll be tossed. We have smaller flippers just for snorkeling but we seldom bother to take them. We just stick our masks and vests in our suitcase. They certainly don't take up much space. You can use the bag for whatever as carry on.
lhanson38 Posted January 19, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2013 We just pack them in our dive bag put a luggage tag on it and check it.
LocoLoco1 Posted January 20, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Our Snorkel/SCUBA bags were too long for carry-on. I put gear in a hard-sided suitcase now. Locomotiveman

Rare MrSchwump Posted January 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2013 I have a snorkel gear bag that will hold 2 sets of mask/snorkel/fins. I stuff swimsuits in the remaining space. My wife carrys a knapsack with electronics nd cameras. That keeps checked luggage light and our valuable stuff right with us.
Nebr.cruiser Posted January 20, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2013 I just put my mask and snorkel in my bag--usually my checked bag but sometimes a carry-on. I seldom bring the flippers as I'm a pretty good swimmer and don't need them for basic snorkeling. I can get them in my checked bag if I do take them.
