"If I were not upon the Seas"

Recommended Posts

The best version of this that I ever saw was on the Nordic Prince in like...1988 or maybe 89? Back when the cruise staff did a lot of the actual entertaining unlike now when the most they do is run bingo and those horse racing games that I never really "got". That was really cool, you wound up really getting to know a lot of the cruise staff sometimes because you would really see them around a lot..hanging out at the pool and then..singing and dancing in the shows at night..The big productions are nice but I wish they still did that.

That version (Christmas cruise 1988) is the only one I've ever seen. :D Laughed so hard we stayed around for the second show.

I believe the lyric for the undertaker was: "Fold their arms, close their eyes, stick 'em in the ground!"

God I'm getting old!! That was our 20th anniversary

First time we saw this was on the NCCL MS Southward 5/6/84.

Laughed until we cried.

Have seen it many times since, but the first time you never forget.

The wife and I still have our pictures that were takken with the performing members as we left the show.

I still remember the first time each of our three kids saw it. They loved it as well.

Just saw this skit on the Disney Magic this past August. I had never heard of it before so I was totally surprised by it during "Pub Night". It was hysterical, especially seeing it for the first time and not realizing what was coming with each new character added. :p

This is indirectly related......

This summer there as a thread "What do you do to distract yourself."

This is a collaborative effort:)

if i were not upon the sea...

i can't imagine where i'd be

from gentle wave to running swell

She's caught me in her magic spell

The sea's the only place for me

or on the beach while we're in port

the days on the cruise are much too short

we will have a very fun day and then

we'll be upon the sea again!

The sea's the only place for me

Relaxation is never hampered

She always makes me feel so pampered

Feeling just like royalty

Though I wish the booze was free

The sea's the only place for me.

volcanos, fruit drinks, i climbed a tree,

the sea's the only place for me,

bingo, food, new friends and shows,

the swells, the winds oh, how it blows,

i walk the decks with my family,

the sea's the only place for me........

if i want to relax out by the pool

where the sun is warm and the wind is cool

a server will bring me an MGD

the sea's the only place for me

the sea's the only place for me

my ta's here, my ta's there

I've got to book, fore they raise the fare,

cabin 1, cabin 3,

the sea's the only place for me

Sailor's cap, afternoon nap,

Sunlight's gleam on a placid sea,

A.M stretch, coffee on deck,

Reclined on a chaise with a book on my knee,

The sea's the only place for me.

We've rhymed and chimed and wrote liberally

of sun and fun and crew courtesy

and friends and food and such royalty

it's nice to see there are other's like me

for whom the sea is the only place to be!
