In January we did an Antartic cruise on Celebrity. In our stop in Ushuaia we used

Edgars company to tour the National Park. We had three vans of passengers that met up on cruisecritic and we all booked separately thru Edgar. He kept everyone in the loop whenever anyone new joined in or there were changes. We had an amazing day weather wise and the scenery was spectacular. Our guide and driver were both excellent and we would highly recommend booking any tour with Edgar.

We were on Celebrity Eclipse and used Edgar's company (tourguideushuaia dot net) for a tour from Puerto Madryn, Argentina.  It was a full day to the Valdes Peninsula which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overall the company provided an excellent service.  We planned in advance and had a number of people from our roll call signed up to share the cost.  We saw penguins, sea lions and elephant seals at the shore.  On the drive we saw numerous guanacos and rheas in the park.  Our guide was very informative and spoke excellent English.  A few things to note.  This company requires a small deposit in advance on line using PayPal and requires the balance in cash-only $USD at the start of the tour.  No credit cards.  Also the ride through the Valdes Peninsula is mostly over an unpaved road so it is slow and very bumpy and this part is 80 km each way to the shore and back to the visitor center.  Not an easy drive!  We also had a tour planned for Punta del Este but the ship missed the port.  We got out deposit back from Edgar that same day with no issues.

We booked a tour in Ushuaia through Edgar and I cannot say enough great things about him and his company.  We started with 2 of us and I put the details on our roll call.  Eventually the group grew to 50 and 3 mini buses (spacious and comfortable).

In the months prior to our cruise, Edgar kept us all informed of changes and made sure that he had the most accurate information for each passenger including cabin numbers which would come in handy later.  We had cancellations along the way and Edgar refunded the money immediately.

The Coral Princess ran into some issues at the port which delayed our departure from San Antonio Chile.  Adding to the delay was a wicked storm off the coast of Chile which ultimately changed our itinerary which pushed the port call to Ushuaia back two days.

I immediately contacted Edgar via Whatsapp and he quickly arranged to move the date and time of our tour, sending out notices to every passenger.  And using the info that Edgar provided about the passengers by mini bus, I called everyone to make sure they were aware.  After that we had a couple of cancellations and adds which he also took care of promptly.  Throughout all of the changes, he was a joy to deal with.

One of our passengers was in a wheelchair and Edgar ensured that her assigned mini bus was positioned right next to the gangway, even closer than the Princess tour buses.  He went the extra mile to minimize the accessibility challenges so that everyone in our group could enjoy the tour.  And for the rest of us, our mini buses were right where the clear, concise info we all received said they would be.

As for the tour itself, our guide Gaston was very knowledgeable about the history and wildlife in Tierra del Fuego.  He took us to several scenic locations and managed to beat the large tour buses so that we got to enjoy these areas without extreme crowding.  It is a beautiful area and we were lucky enough to enjoy it in mild, sunny weather.  The tour of Ushuaia was interesting too and we were given options of being dropped off in town by the shopping area (saving an uphill walk), at the museum, or back at the port.  It was a wonderful day and we all enjoyed it.

Oh and when our ports changed with a surprise visit to Puerto Montt, Edgar also arranged a tour there for 6 of us with another wonderful guide.  It was a windy, rainy day, not the best for touring but our guide still managed to show us the beauty of the area.  We couldn't see the volcano given the fog but the falls were stunning and in good weather this tour would have blown away the ship's options.  As with Ushuaia, our guide got us to the best locations before the big groups got there including the restaurant used for lunch which we had to ourselves.  The buffet was delicious.

I highly recommend Edgar and Tour Guide Ushuaia and I would definitely book with them again if we find ourselves in South America in the future.  www.tourguideushuaia.net
