You have 1 special occasions ??

I was just looking at my reservations for my upcoming cruises and I noticed "You have 1 special occasions" shown under Dining Preferences for both cruises. Any idea what that means? We have not made any arrangements and there are no details. Maybe just a quirk on the Celebrity website?

Also, we just noticed this morning that the full payment for our upcoming cruises were put thru our credit card as of Jan 23, well in advance of the posted final payment dates. Not sure why that has happened, and of course our TA is not open on weekends.

Perhaps they think you are having an anniversary or birthday? Usually the special ocassion celebration isn't much. Maybe a small cake or baloons. I wouldn't worry about it.

Most TA's do charge your credit card ahead of the final payment date. They want to be sure it clears before final payment. If the payment isn't cleared before final payment, you could loose your cabin. TA's don't want to take a chance of opening that can of worms.

Whatever they are celebrating for you, Enjoy!

I suspect that when your travel agent or someone at Celebrity makes special arrangements to have you sent a special treat, that this is what gets shown in 'My Celebrity.'

I had a heck of a time getting an accessible cabin for my dad, with a LOT of misinformation even from the special needs staff until I finally reached their ADA specialist. He answered my questions, got the pricing sorted, acknowledged the difficulties I'd had, and assured me they'd do everything possible to make this trip perfect for my dad. The next day I noticed his reservation had 'You have 3 special occasions' listed on it.

Obviously just a guess, but I definitely didn't schedule any events, it's not anyone's birthday or anniversary, and we didn't use a travel agent. I'm hugely curious as to what he set up =P

EDIT: LOL, ok, or that's the shower chair and toilet riser notation - you're right, that's a silly way to mark special needs requests =P

On the B2B we are in Concierge for the first cruise and Aqua for the second. We haven't booked anything special or requested anything out of the ordinary. My birthday does happen during the second cruise, but I was under the impression that nothing is done for that unless requested - and neither DH or I have. A couple of years ago I spoke to the maitre de and they arranged a birthday cake for DH, I do not think that would have been done if I had not asked.

We have had 3 cruises over DW birthday on 3 different lines. On each ocaision the cruise line did nothing. One time we had booked with a pre-cuise stay in Barcelona through a tour company who had a rep on board with us, and she had a great celebration but I,m sure it was courtesy of the company, not the line.

odd, then, because there are no such notices on my reservation.

don't rightly understand why none of the cruise lines seem to really have gotten the hang of front-end internet access for travelers. I programmed better 'database retrieval' than this with Basic!

only tangentially related: DARNED if it doesn't always irritate me that the button that you hit to search on one page is in the exact same position as the button to CLEAR your search selections on another. User error, yes, but it's poor design.

My reservation says that too. I think if the booking agent puts anything on your file it may say that. I asked for a table for two, other than that I had no "occasions". That's just my guess......but I definitely don't think it's anything to worry about :)

Just off the Reflection today, and just wanted to say what a incredible ship. When I made the reservation thru Celebrity 10 months ago they asked me if their were any occasions. We had an anniversary and a birthday. On our anniversary they brought out a small cake, and no one had mentioned it to the matre'd or anyone. It just happened, nice surprise. Then on my husbands birthday, nothing, but again I didn't mention it all week. They're were also some newly weds on the cruise so they had a honeymoon and anniversary party in the Sky Lounge one afternoon, with a hugh wedding type cake and some dancing. We received an invitation in our stateroom, very nice!

When I saw that on our reservation for our last cruise I called the Captain's Club and it turned out to be a notation that DH needed supplies for his CPAP provided. I thought it was a little odd to list that as a "Special Occasion".

I just had this show up on reservation as well - we have requested distilled water for our CPAP's, so you may be right on this one.
