Crown and Anchor teams up with M Life is official!

Since I'm currently NOIR level with M-Life I'm happy with the new partnership. :)

If I had not cancelled one of my Vegas trips last year I would be NOIR as well -- during that window of time when "all it took" was 1M TC's! Now, as I understand it, it's back to "invitation only". That limits it to higher level players to be sure ($500+/hand), or people who can put in a few weeks worth of time in Vegas each year.

Yes, I'm sorry to see it go back to invitation only as most of my play is actually done at Venetian/Palazzo or Wynn, so I'm sure I'll be Platinum level come October 1st with M-Life, regardless of how many points I have. Still if you are platinum you get a 5 day cruise, ocean view stateroom for free (have to pay taxes and gratuities). These days I consider that one of the better M-Life Platinum perks.

Without a doubt the free cruise was a nice piece of work that MGM managed (while it continues to piss off many of their players... but that's another story entirely)! ;)

So I am D with C&A and Pearl with MGM. Looks like I can call MGM and have myself upgraded to Gold with them. Then I can get the gold level amenities from MGM, i.e. complementary specialty dinner and 5 drink vouchers.

I had contemplated a similar scenario, but it seems almost too easy. I wonder if they'll have some notation on your account that you're an "honorary" gold card holder (in the eyes of Royal - since it was your Royal status which earned you the Mlife Gold card).

I mean, it might work out the way you envision - but my guess is that Royal would not care to have that loophole continue, if it does exist.

Imagine a D+ getting the Platinum Mlife card then being eligible for a 4-5 night free cruise every year. Certainly not what the founding fathers (errr... sorry, Royal Caribbean) envisioned!! :D

I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this!!!

When I said "it" continues to piss off many of their players please note that I was referring to MGM (Mlife) and not the Free Cruise offer!! ;)

A free 5 day cruise is a pretty awesome perk! Still, I don't know what restrictions there might be (time of year, type of cabin). Also, you are still responsible for taxes and port fees.

We booked a weekend at Aria using our RCI Crown & Anchor status and were assigned Platinum. Doing so we received a 20% discount on the room that we would not have been entitled to. I guess most of the other perks involve being able to use the express lines, maybe a show discount, etc.

The first time you're at an MGM property and are catching a taxi to a show/dinner somewhere else... and see a 150 people waiting in the taxi line, you will REALLY appreciate the special line for Platinum/NOIR card holders!!!

This partnership came along at a very convenient time for us. We were meeting friends at the Aria (we'll do Vegas every few years) and when I learned of the perk we jumped all over it.

It was interesting to me when you mentioned earlier in the thread that Platinum with Mlife requires a certain level of play to maintain that status. I'm not sure how that meshes with the RCI Crown & Anchor program where you accumulate total days at sea that never expire.

Down the line, I would not be surprised if RCI will require a that passengers cruise periodically or their status expired similar to airline "miles" programs.

I got the email from MLife yesterday. I noted that the "Free Cruise" for Platinum and Noir members was marked with an asterisk (*) with the note "Free cruise for qualified Platinum and Noir members". This leads me to believe what I speculated earlier. It may not be for ALL Platinum members and simply racking up 200,000 tier credits won't cut it on its own. They will probably care HOW you got the.

But with gold, I would get a free dinner (I guess in a specialty restaurant??) plus some drink coupons to use in the casino. That's still a pretty nice perk for someone like me.

Mlife has been constantly tweaking their program. They are trying to make sure only the most continually profitable (for the company) players earn their higher tier cards.

I am sure changes will continue to unfold in the cruise industry as well - hopefully that won't include eroding of benefits for those who don't cruise "often enough", but nothing surprise me.

Definitely not for us walk-in Platinum level MLife people from C&A.

Not clear on the Mlife.

We visited Las Vegas yearly, but generally stay at Flamingo which is not part of MGM..

I applied for my Mlife membership and got a number.

Also we are diamond status on RCCL.

If I was to book Aria, would I be entitled to any discounts.

Since I just joined Mlife, I do not have any points.

Thanks

We're Emerald with RCCL and just got our MLife cards. When we first went up to the players club counter to pick up our cards, we mentioned the reciprocal agreement with RCI and the lady helping us didn't know much about it. She input our C&A number then printed out Sapphire (lowest level) cards for us. When I questioned which tier would apply to us she asked another host and then had to re-print us Gold cards. She showed me their corporate memo outlining which RCCL status maps to which MLife tiers. Diamond and Emerald map to Gold in MLife. D+ and Pinnacle will map to Platinum in MLife.

I haven't yet used my MLife card on a cruise, but that will come in April. :) I can tell you that the Gold card is a nice one to have though. We got preferred seating for Beatles LOVE and Tosh while at the Mirage. Discounts for show tickets and in the gift shop, line passes for the buffet and restaurants and then they comped us a little bit before leaving based on our play. One note - tier credits expire after one year. In order for us to bump up to Platinum in MLife, we would need 200K tier credits. Our weekend earned us 27K tier credits so I'd need a few more trips in the next year before we get bumped up a level. I imagine though, that since my status with RCI doesn't expire, I will always at least be Gold in MLife. Well, until I get to D+. :D

So ...... all you needed was your RCI number? Did you need to tell the person you were Emerald, or were they able to determine / verify your status?

We are also Emerald and are heading to Vegas in a few weeks. I don't think I've ever had an RCI card (does such a thing exist). I didn't know if I need to try to get RCI cards before we go or if our ID numbers will suffice.

In Vegas, we play mainly at CET properties, but like to wander. If I'm at a MLife property, I might as well be getting as many perks as possible.

With Mlife everyone (re-)starts with zero credits on October 1st. All points add until the following September 30th. As your points add through that 12 month period, that's what determines what card you'll have. If you make 200,000 total by 9/30, you will be Platinum for the full following 12 months. It's then your points again the next 12 months that will lock in that level for the next period... and on and on (until they change it again... LOL)!

As a regular cruisecritic.com junkie, vegasmessageboard.com junkie and degenerate gambler, I find all this interesting. Maybe I can some provide some input here.

The casino side of RCCL is looking for gamblers. MGM Resorts (usually referred to as just MGM) has lots of them. Proven ones. To get to Plat, you have to play quite a bit. Possible via purchases, but rare. To get to NOIR you have to be going through money that would equal the cost of a cruise on a regular basis. In any event, the RCCL casino department would be well suited to give out cruises to these "proven" gamblers. Many casinos across the country do cruise giveaways with the ships casino footing much if not all the bill. The originating casino gets gamblers in the door. Floating casinos get proven gamblers on their ship, in a captive environment.

As to free cruises, notice they do have some restrictions. Plat is only 3 day cruises. Noir is longer but limited to Caribbean.

As to RCCL folks keeping their Mlife/MGM status forever. I don't think the idiots at MGM have thought that one through, yet. Those that earn status via gambling have it reset every year. Same at all Harrahs/Caesars properties and pretty much all casinos. Total different animal than the cruiseline. Folks should not compare them. Airlines by the way start you over at the bottom every year as well.

Looking at all the NCL sailings in your signature, can I assume that CAS has treated you well? I was pleased that they're covering a suite for us on the Breakaway later this year.

Not sure which side treated the other well- LOL! But yes, we only paid "directly" for one of those cruises.

And, before someone asks the inevitable next question :"How much do you have to gamble to get a free cruise? Let me suggest you put your business person or logic hat on. If you ran the casino, how much would you give away (free or discounted room) in hopes you will get it back? They do not give away a $1,000 cabin for a $300 a week gambler. Simple math.

Have you signed in on the Mlife website yet and if so what level do they show you at Sapphire or Gold. We had Mlife sapphire cards which they changed to Platinum when we were in the Bellagio the other day but on the Mlife website it still shows us at Sapphire. I haven't been able to get anyone at the Mlife phone number who knows what is going on.
