Cdn Giftcards @ Starbucks on Oasis

Hey all,

 

Quick question... Does anyone know if Canadian Starbucks gift cards can be used on the Oasis? We received a few of them for XMas and I'm wondering if they are worth bringing along.

I don't think ANY GC's would be accepted on the ship. Can anyone confirm?

People have reported that Starbucks cards are accepted on Oasis and Allure.

The problem is that the Canadian gift cards might not be accepted at a US$ location due to the currency conversion that would be required.

From what I understand Starbucks cards are not accepted at any franchised Starbucks location, like Barnes & Noble, Grocery stores with Starbucks inside and Target stores with Starbucks, so I would assume that the ship Starbucks would be the same. :)

No, it really is true that the Starbucks on the Oasis and Allure do accept Starbucks gift cards for payment. It's a strange exception to the general SeaPass-only for payment onboard practice.

I have used them at airport starbucks which are franchised. The one in our local airport would not when they first opened but they have since started accepting them....may be an individual franchise location decision

I would probably say no they will not accept it. Things that make me say that they are a cash less enviroment. So giftcards would be the same as cash, If i was a gambler and on the cruise ship , id bet $25 it would not be allowed

 

espically with the Canadian vs United States, currency even though its pretty even at most times

I used my Starbucks card on Friday at a Starbucks inside Target, on Saturday at a Starbucks inside Bush airport in Houston, and yesterday at Starbucks inside Randall's grocery store. I wasn't able to use it in the past at Starbucks in Nassau or Old San Juan.

 

If Starbucks on Oasis & Allure take gift cards, do they also take cash or is it gift card / Sea Pass only?

Well, we've established that they DO in fact accept gift card at Starbucks on board.

 

The question remains if Canadian cards are accepted though, though I am leaning toward the opinion here that they are not.

I've tried both Cdn giftcards at US locationss and US ones at Cdn locations (not on purpose, they look the same darn it) and their systems are not compatible. If they take US cards they can't take Cdn ones.
