Alg63 Posted February 19, 2013 #151 Share Posted February 19, 2013 With all the problems and the toilets that popped off walls off lower decks, a huge amount of the ship is going to have to have walls pulled down and pipes pulled out. Carpeting and flooring ill be ripped up and the whole ship ill have to be sanitized. Do you really think that Carnival is going to risk having complaints on that ship after what happened? They will probably have to replace all mattresses and bedding as much was used outside on decks and balconies and woud have moisture damage. 2InfinityNBeyond Posted February 19, 2013 #152 Share Posted February 19, 2013 This thread is incredible to read now! How good it is to have boards like this where we can be forewarned of issues with ships and make intelligent decisions based on real-life experiences instead of just looking at positive sales pitches from the cruise line. In2why Posted February 19, 2013 #154 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Well said!! I can go one step further. Got my car back from being repaired and 3 days later it broke down again. Dang, I wish I knew that was going to happen. I wouldn't have driven it so far from home. I'm sure they wouldn't send a ship out that they didn't think was fixed. I find this interesting. Has Carnival ever pulled a cruise for maintenance? Has there ever been a cancelled cruise for an unsceduled repair?

Don't let the naysayers hold you back. "Any day on a ship, even a smoking ruin, is better than a day at work - even if your job is putting suntan oil on swimsuit models". MrPete Posted February 19, 2013 #158 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Yup, you'd better cancel. They'll just let the ship float around a few more months before fixing it:D Yes.

Big_G Posted February 20, 2013 #160 Share Posted February 20, 2013 You do know that they have canclled the next 5 or 6 sailings.... I heard they will float it out one more time for all the CCers who thought it was like an adventure and/or camping trip. There will be no food, fuel, and alcohol so they have high profit margin expections. Anybody in? :D
matymil Posted February 20, 2013 #161 Share Posted February 20, 2013
After reading some more it seems the Splendor's CO2 suppression system had some glitches. Also ships built after July 2010 must adhere to "safe return to port" design requirements that supposedly increase redundancy. The report on why Splendor lost redundancy has yet to be released.
....wait what?? I'm sailing on the Splendor in six weeks
