Hey Everyone--

Docked in St. Thomas from 8am-4pm with a bunch of other ships next Wednesday.

I would like to visit St. John. I know there are 2 ferries from St. Thomas. Friend and I would like to spend the day at the beach. I get a little anxious at the thought of not making a ferry because it is full due to all the ships in port...

Those of you with experience...

1) Where do you suggest?

2) Experience with the ferry?

Thanks :)

Go with the Red Hook ferry. They run far more often than the Charlotte Amalie ferry. You can catch a taxi to Red Hook (there will be plenty) then a taxi (again plenty) to Trunk or Cinnamon bay in St. John. These taxis are vans or safari trucks and take multiple passengers. Just give yourself plenty of time to get back and you will be fine.

Jen, there are at least 8 threads on this topic on the first page of this forum alone, please review those and you will have so much information you wount know how to act! :D

I would taxi to Red Hook for the reasons I've posted many times elsewhere, ferry to Cruz Bay, and taxi to Trunk or Cinnamon Bay (about $42pp roundtrip). But really, there are a bunch of excellent posts from different people espousing the Red Hook or Charlotte Amalie ferry or the champagne daysail option, just a ton of useful info that we re-type everyday that will help you. If you have any specific questions on those options please post!:)
