Alaska cruisers- on board temps?

This will be our third cruise 7/2 but first with Princess. On our first 2 cruises it seemed the ships overcompensated a bit regarding the a/c. Especially the common areas like dining room and showrooms. Downright cold. So my question is this- will we need long sleeves and or sweaters at night or does it tend to be warmer on board because its colder outside? Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

It has been our experience that ships do crank up the AC on Caribbean itineraries. We just returned from the Sapphire to Alaska and the temperature inside the ship was very comfortable. Although I carried a wrap, I never used it in the dining rooms/shows/bars/casino. During the day I wore light weight sweaters/fleece vests with turtlenecks and I was just fine.

I was just on the sun the 23rd-30th in ALaska and the common rooms weren't too bad. I walked around the inside with a T-shirt and jeans or capris. When we went outside threw on a sweatshirt in the evenings.

In four cruises to Alaska, I have never had any problems with temperatures, inside the ship. john

We were on the Sapphire last August and I was concerned that it might be cool on board so brought several long sleeve shirts and never wore them. It was very comfortable in all areas of the ship. Have a great cruise!

 

By the way, why the name disgruntled?

Just back from the Sapphire to Alaska.......The common rooms were quite comfortable without extra clothing, even at night. In my stateroom, I had to have the heat turned up, but it adjusted easily and quickly. I thought Horizon Court was alittle too warm sometimes, but then it was quite chilly outside and probably I was alittle overdressed.

Recent Diamond cruisers- can you tell me what people were wearing on the ship. Specifically on casual nights were most wearing short sleeves or was it cold enough to need long sleeves or more in the dining rooms and elsewhere on the ship? Just wondering whether to pack more short sleeves or long sleeves for being on the ship at night. Thanks for your help.

I was on the Diamond last July. The temps inside the ship were comfortable. Not as cool as when they have the AC on for Caribbean.

Although reading some reviews I see the temps have been warmer.

You will see a mix in what people wear. Whatever you are most comfortable with is wearing.

The key for Alaska is layers. Perhaps this can apply both inside & out.

If you plan to be out on deck at night you will need a jacket/sweater, long sleeves.

Actually ex. for one day the temp was very comfy onboard.. not chilly at all.. I think lightweight long sleeves okay but I'd go with shorter sleeves and just a light sweater/jacket that kinda goes with everything.
