First time on a Carnival cruise next year, doing the Eastern Caribbean on the Conquest.

Do you have free bottled water in your room?

I go through about 2-3 litres a day.

Can you bring on bottled water?

If non of the above, I presume you would have to get it through the Cheers program!

What drinks are free in the buffets?

Surely water, tea & coffee is available there free?

You can prepurchase 12 packs of water to be in your stateroom. Yes and juice/milk at breakfast. If you do have cheers it is all covered.

So tea coffee water juice & milk are all free at breakfast?

With you saying its all covered with Cheers, not sure if you meant having the above will come off your daily quota!

A lot of your ?'s can be answered @Carnival FAQ page. Here is the info for Cheers! https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1106/kw/drinks%20on%20ship

Only alcohol drinks count for your 15. Bottled water is not free but you can purchase a 12-pack at The Fun Shops for $3.99 and have it in your fridge when you board. The Lido buffet will have juices, tea, generic coffee. Specialty coffees from the coffee shop are explained in the Cheers! section.:)

Seems like the more I read the more I get confused! :-)

Read somewhere that somebody includes their bottles of water in the Cheers count!

If you purchase Cheers, you can get 15 alcoholic drinks per day and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks (almost everything non-alcoholic including water). But, you have to go to a bar or coffee shop to get water. It won't be delivered to your room.

If you don't buy Cheers, you can buy bottled water for $3.99 per 12-pack and have it delivered to your room. If you don't buy Cheers, coffee, tea, tap water and lemonade are free during the day. And juice at breakfast are as well. All other beverages (including bottled water) must be paid for if you don't have Cheers.

We had cheers but found it very convenient to have the case of water (had pre-ordered before cheers was changed to include NA beverages.). My friend needed it to take her medication and it was great to be able to have it right there when we got up in the morning.

We also ordered two packages of water, even though the four of us over 21 will have Cheers. My 18 year old drinks water almost exclusively. And we thought it would be handy just to grab for going ashore rather than stopping at a bar or shop to get it first.

I have did the ultimate ship tour on Princess. The water out of your tap is the same or better than bottled water. Their water filtration system is amazing.

I know a few bucks don't matter that much but we just grab a bottle of water when we get a coctail. Gotta stay hydrated. They are so convenient to grab if you have cheers as you are heading to your. room. I like to have a bottle or two by the bed.

Good morning all.

I will be boarding the Legend on a 7-day Alaska cruise in a little more than a week. My better half and I are on the fence (for various reasons) whether to purchase the Cheers Program for ourselves.

Strictly sticking to my wants, I would like to know if there is/are bar(s) on the ship that offer a variety of whisky and bourbon. I mainly prefer scotch neat (Oban 14, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore). It's good scotch, but nothing high end. Does the cruise ship offer such types? I don't want to spend $400 per person knowing that all that's offered is Cutty Sark, Dewar's, etc.

I guess we have different ideas of what "convenient" means. If I can avoid 12 trips to the bar for $3.99 that is convenient for me. If I'm already at the bar getting a drink I will have to wait five minutes for the bottle of water (I know this varies). So if I wait twelve times that's an hour. My time is worth far more than $3.99 an hour.

I just got off the Carnival Elation at Jacksonville on Thursday. The Cheers program has a high cost per day. So, in order to make it worthwhile, you have to drink more. Like the original post, you have to drink at least 5 drinks to see any savings. Most of the passengers were responsible drinkers, but some of them weren't. There were many young people (early 20s) that were taking advantage of the program. The problem is that they were drinking way too much. I saw a group of young women every night get progressively drunker and drunker. They lost control. They could have been hurt, taken advantage of or assaulted. I watched the bartenders continually give them more and more drinks when they were obviously extremely drunk. The bartenders should have cut them off but they didn't. Fifteen drinks a day may not sound like much for an entire day, but when you are 100-120 pounds, that is a huge amount of alcohol! It became very awkward to have my son see their behavior. We had to leave some venues and shows because of it. The problem is: there is no place on the ship where the alcohol wasn't free flowing so my son was exposed to drunks the whole trip - not very family friendly. If they are going to do free flowing alcohol, it would be better on an adults only cruise.

I have always gotten a cocktail AND bottle of water handed to me at the same time. Never had to wait. And lihe I previously said it is just a few bucks.

Key word 15 drinks a day OPEN your eyes carnival is the only line that sets a limit. Stop reminding us about the 15 drinks and the value. Did you know one line now charges almost 70.00 a day for the package..

There's been a lot of cheers threads, I've even made one, I figured if we could get all the FAQ in one place, we could help keep questions from being answered all day every day over and over. I've pulled these questions from existing threads from users, including myself. Answers confirmed by Carnival before posting (as of 2/18/2012). If I missed anything, please PM me, or ask, and I have no problem calling carnival to find out their answer and adding it to the list.

FAQ:

QUESTION: How much will I pay for Cheers?

A: You will pay $49.40USD For EVERY person in your cabin who is over 21 years old, EACH night you are on a cruise.

This means even if your cabin mate doesn't drink, you will still pay for them to be on the cheers program. Keep in mind that you do NOT pay for Disembarkment day, and you can sign up on the second day on board, paying for only that day through the last day, but you will be charged for each drink you order before you signed up separately.

EXAMPLE #1: You and your wife are cruising on the Freedom, on a 6 night cruise, and sign up for Cheers on the first day. You will pay $592.80 for the program. ($494 if you sign up on the second day)

EXAMPLE #2: You sail with your 19 year old daughter on a 6 night cruise, and sign up you pay $296.40. ($247.00 if you sign up on the second day)

QUESTION: Do I get charged for DisEmbarkment day/ Embarkment day?

A: You will NOT be charged for Disembarkement day. You will be charged for Embarkment day if you purchase the program on embarkment day.

Carnival Liberty

Carnival Magic

Carnival Miracle

Carnival Pride

Carnival Splendor

Carnival Valor

Carnival Victory

(last list update 12/31/2012)

QUESTION 3: My Wife is Pregnant, will Carnival make an exception since she can't drink?

A: NO. Carnival will make no exceptions for any reason, including medical, EVERYONE in the cabin over 21 will be charged for the program.

QUESTION: Is it worth it?

A: (thanks to Vinman13) Depends on how much you drink.

If you are a straight domestic beer drinker ($5.75/drink plus gratuity) it will take almost 8 beers (in a day) to break even. Then you will basically get beers 9 through 15 in a day free. Saving you up to $49.79/day.

If you are a Grey Goose Martini drinker ($9.95/drink plus gratuity) it will take less than 5 (in a day) to break even. Then you will get martinis 6 through 15 in a day free. Saving you up to $122.24/day.

QUESTION: Is it truly unlimited drinks?

A: NO, you are limited to 15 drinks per 24 hour period. The 24 hour period is 6am to 6am the next morning, so your 15 drinks don't restart at midnight, but at 6am the next morning. IN ADDITION, Carnival has stated that the staff has been trained to cut you off if you get too drunk, and they will. You are also limited to 1 drink every 5 minutes.

QUESTION: I'm a Bears fan and can put away a case of beer on a Sunday, Can I still get more drinks after 15?

A: YES, but you will have to pay for them, as long as you are not too drunk, As a Bears fan, you should be fine up to 30 or so beers a day.

You do realize that the post you have quoted is over 3 years old right?

Many things have changed in the last 3 years and if you follow the whole thread you will see the updates. What was posted in the original post was accurate at the time of posting.

Should really have a CC manager delete this thread since it is mostly "outdated" info. I have purchased Cheers! & BB for our next cruise but went ahead & purchased the bottled water for our stateroom fridge so we can have chilled water @night. Worth the $ to me to already have a stocked fridge. Less than a pack of water in Alaska! :p

Carnival website states: (FAQ Cheers! Program)

CHEERS! is an all-inclusive beverage program that allows guests to enjoy a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by paying a flat daily rate. Guests must be 21 or older to purchase CHEERS! and everyone in the same stateroom must purchase the program.

We have enhanced our CHEERS! beverage program to include a greater variety of non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a wider selection of high quality brand-name spirits and wines by the glass.

The cost to purchase CHEERS! prior to your cruise is $49.95 USD per person, per day plus 15% gratuity. CHEERS! can be purchased online at http://www.carnival.com/Funshops or by contacting 'The Fun Shops' Department at 800 522-7648, Monday through Sunday, 8:00am-12:00am ET. Cut-off for pre-purchase is at 11:00pm ET, the evening prior to the cruise departure.

Once onboard, the cost for CHEERS! is $54.95 USD per person, per day plus 15% gratuity. Guests can sign up for CHEERS! at the Atrium Bar, Casino Bar or at the midship pool area bar.

Currently, we are not able to process the Carnival Gift Card for Fun Shop orders. If you wish to purchase CHEERS! with a Carnival Gift Card, you may do so onboard.

Price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

The following beverages are now available within the enhanced CHEERS! program:

All spirits, including cocktails, cognacs, whiskies and other spirits, as well as beer and glasses of wine, with a $50 USD or lower menu price per serving

Zero-Proof frozen cocktails, sodas (including specialty sodas) and juices

Specialty coffees and teas served in the main dining rooms, specialty restaurants and coffee bars

Milkshakes

RockStar energy drinks, Powerade, Vitamin Water, Coconut Water and Honest Tea

500ml bottles of water served in bars and lounges

Large format (1 liter and 1.5-liter) bottles of water in the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants

25 percent discount off the menu price for any spirit, cocktail or wine by the glass, costing above $50 USD per serving

25 percent discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle and larger format water bottles purchased outside the main dining rooms or specialty restaurants

25 percent discount off the menu price for all beverage classes and seminars

Please Note:

Due to state laws, we cannot sell CHEERS! until the second day of the cruise for voyages departing from our Texas, Alabama and New York home ports.

Program only applicable for onboard purchases during regular operating hours.

CHEERS! is not offered on 2 day cruises, charter cruises, on ships sailing from Australia (Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend) and beverage purchases made at Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas.

CHEERS! Q&A's

The following restrictions apply:

Guests must be 21 years or older to purchase and agree not to give to minors.

Each adult assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program.

Guests must purchase the program for the entire cruise - this program is not offered on a per day basis.

CHEERS! is non-refundable; if the program is purchased prior to the cruise, it is refundable up to 11:59pm ET, the evening prior to the cruise departure.

Price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

Only one alcoholic drink at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.

Program allows for unlimited Zero-Proof beverages but only one beverage at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.

There is a 5 minute wait time between ordering drinks.

Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! program and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest's Sail and Sign account.

Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served ANY additional alcoholic drinks.

Program only applicable for onboard purchases during regular operating hours.

All bottles and cans will be served opened

Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call).

Due to state laws, we cannot sell CHEERS! until the second day of the cruise for voyages departing from our Texas, Alabama and New York home ports. Drinks purchased on the first day of the cruise will be charged to the guest's Sail & Sign card in the usual manner. When purchased on the second day of the cruise, guests are charged for the remaining days only (cruise duration less one day).

For those guests who pre-purchase CHEERS!, it will be activated upon boarding the ship (except for ships sailing from Galveston, Mobile and New York). Guests will receive a note in their stateroom advising them to go the bar to receive their sticker which is placed on their Sail & Sign card. In the event guests do not go to their stateroom, once the Sail & Sign card is swiped, it is flagged and the bartender will provide the sticker.

Group bookings (consisting of a minimum of 30 adults) can purchase CHEERS! prior to the cruise by contacting Group Event Planning (all adult guests in the group must purchase the program; all minors in the group must purchase Bottomless Bubbles program).

For pre-purchase orders, a message card will be placed in guests' staterooms on embarkation day with the following notation: "Please bring your Sail & Sign Card to the Casino Bar to activate this program". A sticker will be placed on the card for the use of the CHEERS! program. In the event guests do not go to their stateroom, once the Sail & Sign card is swiped, it is flagged and the bar staff will provide the sticker.

CHEERS! is not offered on the following:

2-day cruises

Charter cruises

Ships sailing from Australia (Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend)

Beverage purchases made at Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas

Outdated? Just go back a few pages or check the date of the post and it is current.

I just get several bottles of water the first day and I have cold water in my room.

See your post is outdated. Carnival will allow you to purchase Cheers with gift cards now. Just read several post about it on a social media site about cruising from New Orleans.

The problem is: there is no place on the ship where the alcohol wasn't free flowing so my son was exposed to drunks the whole trip - not very family friendly. If they are going to do free flowing alcohol, it would be better on an adults only cruise.

Just bought Cheers for my Vista cruise in august. I've read pretty much everything about it. It's totally clear what's included, alcohol wise.

It's the water I have questions about. How about Perrier and/or Pellegrino? Included? It says that 500 ml water bottles are included, but the thing is. Thise brands are not available in 500 ml bottkes, only smaller, or larger.

Thanks for your time

Haven't you just answered your own question?

Not quite, a regulat 500 ml water bottle is what? $1,25? 330ml perrier is 4?

On the other hand, it also says "other non alcoholic bottled beverages" are included. So yes, they should be included.

I would say it is NOT included. But could be wrong. I looked at Cheers program details and Bottomless Bubbles. On BB it says any non-alcoholic beverage not listed was excluded. Those were not listed...
