doing laundry on Carnival

Recommended Posts

I pack detergent and fabric softener sheet in ziplock bags already measured. Never had a problem. I usually take 2 or 3 bags and the quarters needed. The washer and dryer are $3.25 or $3.50 per load, and I usually do a color and a white load. I like to come home with mostly clean clothes. It also lets you pack much lighter.

I am thinking about doing a load or two on our Conquest cruise, to lighten packing for DH and I, and because DD is 2 and anyone with a two year old knows that they can be MESSY. And quite honestly, I do not have too many clothes that fit (deferring buying more until I lose weight lol) , considering we are driving to port over 2 days, that is a lot of clothes. I found some of those purex (??) sheets that are all in one on clearance at Dollar General so I might try them out. Does anyone know, does Conquest take quarters or sign and sail? If quarters, is there a change machine in their or do you bring your own. Finally, where is the laundry room(s) on Conquest? Our room is on Lido- Deck 9.

I can't imagine that would be a problem. I plan to bring some as well. DD and I are on a 12-day cruise and will then travel through Europe for three weeks so I plan to do laundry on the last day before we get off the ship so we hit the land portion with all clean clothes. We're platinum, so I'll take advantage of the free laundry perk for some of our laundry, but I won't trust them with the delicates. :o

No problem.. we usually have them do a load for us $15.00 per bag. Military rolled the clothes & pack them vert. then horz and stuff socks & panties in between the spaces. Ended up with 3 bags of clothes..lol

Last cruise we had 2 grandkids and did two loads.

It is so nice to come home with clean clothes to unpack..

I have never had anything shrink. Granted, my clothes have been washed many times and won't shrink anymore. We only give them jeans, t-shirts, socks and underwear. I would never give them anything delicate.

Thanks for the response. I'm just so nervous about using the laundry service. I wash everything in cold and dry it on warm. We've sill got a lot of traveling to do after the cruise and we'd be in a bad way if our clothing shrank! LOL.

I did laundry on the Victory one afternoon while we were taking a break in our room. It was $3.00 to wash $3.00 to dry. There were packets of liquid softener and powder detergent available.

I brought on liquid Tide individual load packet with me. I didn't want to do laundry, but it was nice to have not so much when we came home. It took about two hours to do two loads. The dryers sucked.

No nothing shrunk..

Washer was $3.00 Dryer $3.00 but some ship recommend to use two dryers cause your clothes wont dry. (true happen on the Legend)also go to the dollar tree and get one of those cheap basket (folds) to put your dirty laundry it.

As I mention before, roll your dirty clothes really tight... packing the bags vert. then horz and squeezing those small articles in the spaces..

If you give your laundry to your room steward in the am, be back in your cabin wash/dry fold by dinner. Worth the extra few dollars

Thanks for the advice. We're platinum so we'll get six bags of laundry which is more than we'll need. I'll just have to decide before we go if I want to take the risk. I may contact a couple B&Bs we'll be staying at during the beginning of the land portion of our trip and see if they have laundry facilities for guests. :o

Do contact them. Be warned that dryers are not common in Europe, so everything is line dried. Our experience is Rome. We know of only one laundry in Rome (I'm sure there are others) and it isn't self serve. Depending on how much he has it can take all day to get your stuff.

I can't get my wife "on board" with the idea but I say bring and wear your old underwear and leave it behind in a sealed bag in the garbage. Less to repack, less to wash, and more room for souvenirs. You may as well get 1 last use then buy some new stuff.:D

I remember reading they were now using S&s card to insert into washer dryer Instead of quarters. Anyone else hear of this or have more detail?

It was this way on the Dream. Expecting it to be the same on the Breeze in less than 2 weeks.

Conquest takes quarters (was on there in Jan) I think it was 3.50 each for washer and dryer, I had my own quarters didn't notice if there was a change machine . We were also on Lido deck and there is a laundry room.

I wash underwear in the bathroom sink and send out some of our clothes for the wash & press . The really do not charge much and my clothes come back looking great . We only do this on longer trips . What I save on baggage fees pays for it .

We do laundry almost every cruise. I pack laundry pods in a plastic soap container and take dryer sheets in a baggie. Sometimes we take a couple rolls of quarters, sometimes we just get them in the casino. Quarters we don't use for laundry we use in the casino.:p
