Nymue Posted March 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2013 Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Dublin? We will be flying back from Rome with a stop over of a few days in Dublin. Thanks, Anne
CruiserBruce Posted March 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2013 I would be looking at TripAdvisor, not here for hotel recommendations, far superior to Cruise Critic for that purpose. Plus, Dublin is covered on the British Isles/Western Europe board, not here.
Cotswold Eagle Posted March 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2013 Yes, come over and see us on the British Isles/Western Europe board - we have a couple of very helpful Dubliners :) I have stayed at a nice little guesthouse called Staunton's on the Green, which has a great location right on St Stephen's Green (lovely park) and walking distance to the centre, but you may be looking for a more full service hotel? Mairnealach Posted March 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2013 Hi Anne, 'Nice' is a broad term and covers many hotels of different standards and price categories. In the luxury category, or what is considered such in Dublin, are the Shelbourne Hotel and the Merrion Hotel. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/dubbr-the-shelbourne-dublin-a-renaissance-hotel/ http://www.merrionhotel.com/ Both of these hotels are situated in the fashionable, and central, St Stephen's Green area of the city. If cost is not a consideration, then you will not find better hotels in Dublin. In the budget category is Bewley's Hotel, Ballsbridge. http://www.bewleyshotels.com/ballsbridge This hotel is located in the embassy belt - it us just up the road from the U.S. embassy - inner suburb of Ballsbridge. However, it is a ten minute bus journey from the hotel to the city centre. This is the hotel my friends stay in when visiting Dublin and they have always found it excellent for their needs. If these hotels do not seem to be what you want, then please let me know and we can take it from there. Dermot
