ItsMe Posted May 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2004 We will be on the CB in June, and I am torn between these two, Sapphire Beach or Turtle Cove???? We are looking for great snorkling. Any opinions?
SEPyle Posted May 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I absolutely loved the snorkeling at Saphire Beach. It was the best I've ever experienced! Sharon
The Islander Posted May 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 You cant really compare those two options. A trip to Turtle Cove is a sail boat snorkel excursion and Sapphire would be a taxi and beach day. Both are great ways to spend the day but its really a matter of do you want to spend a few hours sailing and snorkeling OR would you rather take a taxi tour of the island and then lay on the beach and do some snorkeling. --Islander For more information on the Virgin Islands visit http://www.***** the best guide to St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island. Rare Got2Cruise Posted May 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Islander, thank you for all of your fabulous advice on this board. I had the pleasure of staying on St. Thomas for a week a couple of years ago. We absolutely loved it, and will definitely be back for a longer stay. My question: On Sapphire Beach is there concessions that rent umbrellas, etc. to the public, ie, non-resort guests? yankfan Posted May 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2004 yes there is a concession at sapphire beach - we rented chairs and they had umbrellas and I believe snorke equip also. Hope you have a great trip!
The Islander Posted May 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Hello Got2Cruise, Yes Sapphire has a bar/restaurant, a little store, a watersports booth with kayaks, parasailing options, windsurfing, jet skis... and they also have a beach attendant right outside the booth with chairs. I don't remember seeing umbrellas. If not then stick to the right side under the seagrape trees for shade. --Islander For more information on the Virgin Islands visit http://www.***** the best guide to St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island. Bucky3 Posted May 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Is snorkeling better at Sapphire or Coki beach? Thanks for any information. And do you know if the taxi company has vans - there are 7 of us, or should we rent something. I assume there are vans for rent?
Rare Got2Cruise Posted May 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Thank you for the advice. We will go to Sapphire Beach this time around. We have been to Magen's Bay, and want to try something a little more quiet. We absolutely adored St. John but we feel it might be too stressful when the ferry is involved and you need to get back to the ship om time. To Bucky3, all the taxis are vans or those large open safari type vehicles. They even pick you up from the airport in those open safaris even though there is the usual 15 minute daily shower. ItsMe Posted May 6, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Thank you all for your opinions, it looks like either one will be a great choice, so I guess I'll just put them both in a hat and pick one. Can't wait till next month!!
The Islander Posted May 6, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Got 2 Cruise, If quieter is what you are looking for you might try Secret Harbor; nice beach, good snorkeling, nice beach bar and restaurant. A bit further away though. Bucky 3, There are taxis in cars, mini van, large vans, safari buses... the safairs can fit 20+ people your group is fine. --Islander For more information on the Virgin Islands visit http://www.***** the best guide to St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island.
