MargoK Posted March 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Hi there Perhaps if you could specify which ports your ship is calling to we can give you a definitative answer. Some ports are close to the city, some are not, some have passenger terminals, some are 'working ports'.

4774Papa Posted March 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Duh..slaps self in the head*Leaving and returning to Sydney. How many cruise ports are in Sydney? There are two cruise ports. The smaller ships can go under the bridge and port near Darling Harbor, while the larger ships like Solstice dock at Circular Quay across from the Opera House. After docking at Circular, we got in the taxi queue and only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our taxi. You could not hail a taxi unless you tried to walk some distance into the city. heatherandfred Posted March 12, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I'm not even sure where the Radiance would dock.
Very Frequent Flyer Posted March 12, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Radiance docks at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay. Plenty of taxis waiting for passengers as they disembark so no need to worry there.

Very Frequent Flyer Posted March 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2013 Worse comes to worse, if there are no cabs at the terminal, simply walk to the Four Seasons hotel, which is a minute's walk from the terminal. There is usually a cab or two there.
Northern Aurora Posted March 13, 2013 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2013 We have actually disembarked at the OPT in Sydney. There was an organized line for taxis, and we were quickly on to our hotel. It was a sort wait, and very organized.
no fuss travel Posted March 19, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 19, 2013 Two cruise ships disembarking at the same time and it took a bit longer in the taxi wait line to get one. Sydney organized the lines well so that no one had to wait too long.
Grumpy100 Posted March 20, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 20, 2013 There was quite a line to get a taxi but they have an orderly fashion to hail a cab....

Although not a mega ship, I was on HAL Oosterdam last month and we went under the bridge as embarked at Barangeroo Wharf at Darling Harbor. By The Bay Posted March 21, 2013 #13 Share Posted March 21, 2013 There was quite a line to get a taxi but they have an orderly fashion to hail a cab.... We were at the OPT at Circular Quay yesterday after getting off the Carnival Spirit. It was around 0830, during morning peak hour. The line for the taxi rank snaked outside the terminal and back inside. The total length was over 100 metres long. Taxi's were arriving about one every 3 minutes. Gave up waiting after 15 minutes and going nowhere and took the lift to the ground floor and walked to the railway station, a 10 minute walk away. It was a different story when we arrived back on a Saturday last cruise, straight into a taxi and there were other taxi's also waiting. Depends on the day and time I guess. No nearby public transport, so will be requiring taxi's to move the majority.
