Mothballs Posted March 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2013 I know a lot of rumours are spread in workplaces and I'm not one to believe everything I hear but I returned recently from a B2B but on different ships and I was told on both ships that the 2014/15 season for Rhapsody of the Seas will be the last downunder and another big ship will be sent down here by RCI.I heard Freedom class mentioned but do we have the infrastructure to handle such a big ship? Regards Elaine.
Bob&Janet Posted March 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2013 That will be a shame if true as I have a very soft spot for Rhapsody ... it really is one of my favourite ships and I would hate to see her go. Much prefer Rhapsody to stay and to let Radiance go! A Freedom class ship would be good though, which would dock at the OPT as Voyager and other megaships do. If the Queen Mary can dock in Circular Quay, then no reason why a Freedom class (which I think is a bit shorter but a bit wider) couldn't. Sweet on the sea Posted March 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2013 That would be great then we can experience other RCCl ships here at home. :)
Rare mr walker Posted March 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2013 That will be sad if true. We have cruised on Rhapsody 3 times. A big plus for her is she can access ports that other ships can't ie Cairns. Tied up at wharf is big plus vs tendering into Cairns. Will definitely have to sail on Rhapsody again before she leaves for good.
Aussie FF Posted March 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2013 OMG, I hope it's not true. I've been on her 10 times, and many more planned. A couple of years ago, there was talk by some crew, that they were considering home porting her in Sydney ALL YEAR! BIGGER IS NOT BETTER. Kiwi_cruiser Posted March 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2013 I hope Rhapsody comes back to New Zealand soon if it is true, but I hope its not true as I would like to try her out :)
Katana_Geldar Posted March 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2013 Oh noes! Only been on Rhapsody once and want to go back! We had our honeymoon on there. Captain Rob, Ricky Mathews and Louis in the R Bar just made it fantastic.
Aussie FF Posted March 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Phew. Rhapsody is scheduled to call at Sydney OPT until April 2016. I'll fly o/s if I have to.:) Maybe another Vision class would be OK! Aussie Frequent Floater.
poppetts Posted March 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Rhapsody was good to sail on, but i love variety. Personally i would love to see a different ship each season in Australia from all companys.
springaussie Posted March 17, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2013 It would be the Alaskan market that would need Rhapsody replaced. Glen .
