RhondaPerr Posted March 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2013 I have never really paid attention to the walk off....Why is that an advantage to dealing with the immigration delays...I am concerned that my 12:46 return flight is no longer a safe time if I do Luggage Valet? foodle Posted March 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Walk off iis exactly as it sounds, the advantage is that you are the firsst to leave however there is no help with luggage so you must be able to walk the distance to customs carrying all your luggage and gear. We used it on our last cruise and were 4th off the boat and through an empty customs in 5 minutes.
RhondaPerr Posted March 16, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Thanks! Not exactly ideal, but might have to do that...I can not risk missing my flight! Never thought I would have to worry about the 12:46 pm flight! If the customs delay is for people only you would be ok with Luggage Valet since you can disembark at any time without having to worry about taking your luggage with you. Assuming you are from the US and disembarking in FLL. Mary Lou
RhondaPerr Posted March 16, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Last time with Luggage Valet, our disembarkation time was 9 am... You could not get off the ship whenever you wanted :(. I am from the United States and it was Florida.. Hi Rhonda.:)....to add something to this without bringing up the "other stuff"....I had booked a noon flight home but I changed my flight to 3:45pm. I have been sailing out of FLL for years and this is the first time I got a bit concerned. So, instead of stressing over the lines and "what if, what if"....I decided for the 43.00 it cost me? It is worth it to go later. I didn't want to do self disembarkation and I didn't want to stress on the last day either. It is Southwest and no penalties to change...only the difference in price. I will go to Guest Relations and either 1) ask to be in the very, VERY last group off the ship or 2) maybe do an excursion to the Everglades. I have never done that before and I would think those who do post cruise excursions would be getting off the ship first too.
RhondaPerr Posted March 17, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted March 17, 2013 It will cost me $150 to change and just checked and I would be stuck till Monday...and I have to be back at work on Monday! This is cruise 31 for me, and I have never had to worry about not making a flight after 12pm... Dealing with my luggage will be difficult, but might be necessary! :( Hi Rhonda.:)....to add something to this without bringing up the"other stuff"....I had booked a noon flight home but I changed my flight to 3:45pm. rosegrower Posted March 17, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2013 We just used luggage valet 2 weeks ago and you have to have a flight later in the afternoon to use the program. Our instructions were that we could leave the ship anytime after 8:15 but since we had a 3:30 flight, we stayed in the concierge disembarkation lounge and got off with the last group at 10:15. I could be wrong but I believe the previous poster sailed Reflection which leaves from Miami. Aren't you going on Silhouette? The reason I am mentioning this? I wonder if they flew home from Miami's airport.....aren't you flying home from Ft. Lauderdale?
CHEZMARYLOU Posted March 17, 2013 #13 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks! My flight is 12:46pm do you know what the cut off was? I think the cutoff was noon or later. No one checked anything when we walked off the ship except for scanning our sea pass card at the exit. I don't even think that they gave us a time to disembark, thought they may have suggested 9:30. We did not want to wait on the ship & disembarked a little before 9:00. This was in January this year. Mary Lou
