Haines, Sitka and Ketchikan on the Cheap

Hi friends,

Doing a 10 day and visiting Haines, Sitka and Ketchikan.

Would love suggestions for cheap activities in each of those areas.

each town has a web site with information on local sights, activities, walking tours, maps, vendors. Many towns will send a free Guide. Google any town's name followed by visitor information.

ie. sitka visitor information yields www.sitka.org

There are hundreds of ideas. You need to take a look and find out what each of these ports is noted for. Each is very different from the other. Repost for more specific information.

 

Hopefully you don't just limit your touring to "cheap". There are just excellent tours to also consider that are extremely worthwhile. Many people coming to Alaska have a priority for wildlife- a Sitka boat tour is an excellent selection for varied wildlife, with an independent vendor.

If you do a search on this (Alaska) forum, there have been some recent threads about walking tours in the main ports (not sure about Sitka, but I know Ketchikan was in there). I'd do the search by each city and by "thread" not "post." Then you'll be able to more clearly see the threads that might include inexpensive options...

I have not seen many tours in AK that are cheep. There is a lot of walking around to see things you can do there. Bill
