maryr65 Posted March 24, 2013 #104 Share Posted March 24, 2013 This afternoon was the Crown & Anchor “Meet the Stars” show. Free drinks and a chair in the sun….yes please! Mom pretended to have a drink but after one sip claimed she was getting tipsy…lol These guys did more of their routine….not a bad view on a lazy afternoon The Captain pretending to be one of the “strong” brothers A few drinks in.... Your review is bringing back great memories. Captain Johnny is our favorite captain. We saw him walking around Central Park with his pet parrot. Thanks for sharing. Venusleo1 Posted March 24, 2013 #105 Share Posted March 24, 2013 That is so funny.....This is my go-to dress for cruising. This is my favorite picture in this dress from the cruise. Love it! Well I hope I do since I bought it. I bought it on Dillards on-line and I just got in Friday and I bought it a size too big, so I am just waiting for my new one to be delivered. I love Jessica Howard and have a bunch of her dresses but I never notice it's Jessica Howard until later, her and Calvin Klein.. just love there stuff! kristinp36 Posted March 27, 2013 Author #106 Share Posted March 27, 2013 This is where we lost my parents....As I mentioned mom wanted to gamble and she only gambles at $0.01 slots. So we wandered around Atlantis for a while looking for a $0.01 penny slot. We found one!!! We proceeded to sit mom and dad down at the machines and told them we would be back in 30 minutes. I wanted to step outside and take some pics. We return and they were not there. We proceeded to walk around the casino looking for them but they are no where to be found. We were scheduled to be in port for a very short time since it was an unscheduled stop so I was starting to get nervous. Where are they. Hubs was ready to leave them in Nassau since they didn't stay put. About 45 minutes later we finally found them wandering around like nothing was wrong. Remember my first post where I mentioned this would be a more stressful vacation than normal....well here is just one of the reasons!

kristinp36 Posted March 27, 2013 Author #108 Share Posted March 27, 2013 One last dinner :(:( For the first time ever we had a fairly late flight out of FL so we booked a post cruise excursion to see the everglades. This was my dad's request and something I was interested in. Everything was pretty smooth. Off ship early to catch our bus for the excursion. All bags traveled with us and then dropped off at the appropriate airport after the excursion. Another slightly rainy day....

kristinp36 Posted March 27, 2013 Author #110 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Was the ship amazing...depends on who you ask in my family. Me, mom & dad.....YES Hubs.....NO, he felt the ship was too big which led to decreased customer service. He also disliked all the up-charge options. I must admit I would cruise this ship again in a heartbeat. Anyone want to adopt me and take me with you? I don't know if I can convince Hubs to cruise this class of ship again. I really think you would need to do a B2B to see and do everything on this ship! I do kinda agree about the up-charges but I knew that going in to the cruise. It is unfortunate since the cruise price is more then we normally pay but I was blessed to find the package we found since it covered quite a few up-charges. kristinp36 Posted March 28, 2013 Author #113 Share Posted March 28, 2013 For those of you with kids or people who are kids at heart (Mom & I included) there are tons of opportunities to get pictures with all the characters. They are listed in the infomration everyday telling you where and when they will be out. My obsolute favorite pic from this cruise is my mom with Puss in Boots. It is hard to tell on a small version but she looked likes a very scared 4 year old. Look at the eyes!

kristinp36 Posted June 7, 2013 Author #119 Share Posted June 7, 2013 Just returned from Alaska on my first Holland America cruise....... definitely a different experience then the mega ship Allure but I still had a fabulous time. Alaska was amazing with perfect weather. The customer service on HAL was on par with RC but the desserts are definitely better on RC.

Rare BillOh Posted June 7, 2013 #122 Share Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) View of the top of the stack in Central Park. We were told these were a type of release valve for the engine room. If there was over-heating or a fire these stacks open up and release the heat. I enjoy looking at Allure reviews to see if I can see something I haven't seen on two trips on Allure. You succeeded! Ooops, quoted wrong picture. Edited June 7, 2013 by BillOh
jebl Posted June 7, 2013 #123 Share Posted June 7, 2013 Great review and wonderful photos. How did you find that package? Did you do a search of TA's or perhaps use that useful site that gives you offers from lots of different TA's? Would love to have such luck. Truluv Posted June 7, 2013 #124 Share Posted June 7, 2013 Loved your review and all the pictures - thank you! One of your pictures (she's so beautiful) will be my laptop wallpaper until we sail in August! I really respect your Mom for being young at heart enough to zip line. What a great lady! I have to admit that I'm afraid this ship is going to be too big for me too. I was happy to see the smiles on your parents' faces, and that they managed not to be overwhelmed by the ship's size despite health challenges. It made me hopeful that I'll be able to manage a week on Allure. I'll be cruising just with my 3 kids in their 20s, who I doubt will be as good as you were about enjoying family time... I suspect I'll be lucky if I see them at dinner LOL. Thank you so much for all of the great pictures!

I sign up for all the big on-line travel/cruise web TA's and get emails when they run specials. I cannot mention who we booked with or my post will get deleted but think of a warehouse.
