Options for getting cash once on board

My ship sails on the 14th. I get paid on the 15th. I need cash to pay the balance for my AI resort for the day in Jamaica on the 16th. What are my options for getting cash with my Visa Debit Checkcard?

 

If needed I can make sure to save the money from the 1st of the month check, but that will be troublesome. Suggestions?

There is an ATM on board the ship. The casino will also advance you cash against your on board account. They normally charge 3% for this.

And the ATM is about $6 plus your bank fees. You can also cash one personal check for $200.00 at guest services.

If the card you are securing your seapass with gives points, it might be better to take the advance from the casino. It doesn't show up as an "advance " on your credit card, but I think it shows like a purchase.

You won't need your credit card, just your seapass card. Just go to the Cashier in the casino and request some cash...that simple. The amount will show up on your account that has to be paid at the end of the cruise.

Just to be clear... the amount that will show up on your Sea Pass Account will be the amount you draw out, plus the 3% charge.

 

Cashing a check at Guest Services is the only fee free option...

Just a heads up I´ve often seen the ATM to be out of order, so have a plan B if ATM is your Primary choice.

 

I echo the comment about telling the Casino cashier it´s for gambling.

 

I've told the casino cashier I needed it to pay tips. ( That was the truth. ) no problem.

Also check with your bank to see if they have an agreement with bank in the Caribbean. When I was in the Southern Caribbean my bank had such a agreement where no fees were charged if you used that particular banks ATM. I can't remember now which bank it was. Also it's good to let your bank know of your itinerary so they don't stop your card from being used because of unusual activity out of the country. I also have a separate account set up from my main account just to use on vacations and cruises.

If they ask you, tell them it's for gambling. Somewhere it's written, that cash can only be taken from the Casino for gambling. I've never heard of anyone being refused but you never know when someone is sticking to the rules.:rolleyes:

On ocassions I have received cash at the casino, the ATM charges were high with my bank. Also, I used my ATM card in Nassau to take out cash and later my bank put a freeze on it because I didn't tell them I was going out of country. Cash check easy and no charge.
