Just completed this cruise last month. It was absolutely fabulous. Have to say it is in the Top 2 or 3 of all my cruises!
Rare www3traveler Posted April 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2013 I would vote for a cruise on The Sun. She is unique ship. Last fall I spent 10 days on Her and have booked a 20 day cruise for 2014.
maja651 Posted April 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Which hotel in Cancun? I have been to Cancun MANY MANY times, so i know it well. We are actually going on the Epic this April, followed by a week in Playa del Carmen at the Royal Haciendas. For us, it is the best of both worlds, cruise and a week at a nice resort on an awesome beach!
roger001 Posted April 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Number 2. But if anyway you could do it, a balcony cabin. Would be much nicer for that length cruise.

And there is so much to do! But the other cruise ports are more interesting to me.

Sauer-kraut Posted April 2, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2013 My personal choice would be the longer cruise. The SUN is a unique ship in the Norwegian fleet. She's just a wonderful girl and her cabins are a bit larger than the the other ships. Also, I feel a stop in Tampa is a bit of a waste. I think the Sun's itinerary is the best out of the two. I would love to do Aruba and Curacao and Cartagena! I don't know... An all inclusive sounds great but Occidental Xcaret has a man-made concrete beach covered with sand, I'd rather stay somewhere else. You can read the reviews on TripAdvisor.com Each has its own to recommend it, but in my book the longer the cruise the better!

maja651 Posted April 3, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2013 The OP stated Occidental Xcaret it must be a package deal with the cruise included. That hotel is a part of the Riviera Maya option, not thr Cancun option. OP did not mention which hotel in Cancun.
mickanddoe Posted April 3, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 3, 2013 we just did the Sun March 10/13 and would do her again in a heart beat.. she might be a older ship but still is in top shape.. the food, staff, casino was top notch.. we are looking at doing the Sun for Alaska next year...
