beachnut2011 Posted April 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Can anyone use the Solarum pool or is the pool just for the aqua class? Is the solarum pool the pool with large rollers on the sides? Is the sauna and steam room available for all? Also, concerning the very top deck - front part of the ship. Is this a open sun deck? thanks,
Rare cruisestitch Posted April 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2013 The Solarium is open to all passengers over the age of 16. HOWEVER, in cases of inclement weather, exceptions can be made for families, usually for an hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon. When this is the case, it will be posted in the Daily. On S-class ships, the pool is just a swimming pool filled with fresh water. Heated, but not hot. On M-class ships, it is a Thalassotherapy style pool, with large heated rollers and water jets, and minerals added to the water, which is heated, but not as warm the water in the hot tubs is. Tiggertastic Posted April 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2013 they also have set family time in the solarium for children - a notice is posted on the sliding doors to the solarium to tell you when that is for each ship
trabeler Posted April 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2013 The very top deck relaxation area (Solstice deck) is open to all adults (not just aqua). There is an indoor relaxation area at the front of the ship (a lounge with comfy chairs) that is reserved for those with spa appointments or aqua class. As to saunas and steam rooms... there are free dry saunas in the men's and women's locker rooms (single sex saunas). The Persian gardens (extra charge area or free with Aqua class) has a steam room and a somewhat hot sauna with ocean views, plus heated tile lounge chairs. Super nice and very enjoyable areas. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Celebrity Solstice Visual Highlights? From our June 7-19, 2011, Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in France, Italy, Kotor and Dubrovnik, I have pull together a number of wonderful visuals of the Solstice, its features, food, entertainment, options, etc. We are now at 2,300 views for this shorter version started late last week of my larger full review of that cruise and all of the port pictures/details. Check these postings and added info at: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1803477 This is a view of the upper floor, 14th level above the main pool area on the Solstice-type ships. This illustrates how the space for walking can be a little narrow and congested during the middle of the afternoon as this area fills up with people enjoying the sun, etc., during sea days. BUT, things are much easier and more open for your walking/laps earlier in the am, plus in the evenings. The area has a nice rubberized surface. Lots of interesting visuals to see on the ship and at sea as you walk around here, hang out, etc.: The Solarium was one of our favorite areas. Food and drinks were nearby and it was very relaxed and sophisticated. Quieter, too, as it is an adults-only area. Two hot tubs here. Not crowded, especially in the evenings. Nice art and design with this facility. Wonderful setting for relaxing and watching the outside water/shore views, enjoying subtle inside action, etc.:
