Sea Grape

Hello,

We are trying to decide on what beach to spend the day at. Open to any other suggestions, but were considering Sea Grape, Royal Palms, or Cemetery.

We don't really like the over crowded, shoulder to shoulder, places. Haven't found much on Sea Grape other than some comparing it to Royal Palms with more of a Caribbean Beach Bar theme.

This is about all I have found on the beaches.

Sea Grape = Caribbean beach bar scene. Some crowds.

Royal Palms = similar to Sea Grape with a pool. Bigger crowds.

Cemetery = no amenities. beach to yourself.

Any other comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We have read some taxis try to take you further (than necessary for the closer beaches.) Should we have a problem with a taxi driver taking us to either Public Beach or Sea Grape?

Also what should we expect to pay for the taxi fare?

Thanks for responding.

We don't see "Sea Grape" on the map (at least not the one we have.) Is this the appropriate name to tell the taxi driver?

Also if we decided on Public Beach. Would that be the proper name considering the Seven Mile beach is public.

Thanks.

You can ask to go to Calico Jacks, which is the bar at Seagrape. The driver will also know Seagrape. Seagrape and Seven Mile Public Beach are pretty much one and the same.

It's one long stretch of beach. The names are just to differentiate different sections. If they drop you off someplace, you can just walk along the beach till you find a place that appeals to you.

As long as you don't rent chairs, you can pick up and move along if it gets too crowded for you.

You definitely can tell a taxi driver to take you to Sea Grape. They will know where that is.

Sea Grape is that section of Seven Mile Beach north of Calico Jacks but south of the old Courtyard by Marriott. I think you can find both of those locations on Google maps.

Incidentally, there have recently been some major roadworks in that area that are not reflected on Google Maps. Anyone who has been to Sea Grape before might think the taxi driver is lost, but it really is a bit more complicated now.
