cibaygirls Posted April 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2013 I realize this is a cruise forum but thought I would ask here. I typically cruise, but in June DH and I are taking a 10th anniversary land trip to Key West. I was hoping to do a sunset cruise on our anniversary and am intersted in seeing if anyone has opinions of which company to utilize. I would prefer a schooner over a catamaran and seem to be leaning towards Classic Harbor Line or Sebago. Any input? I am also always open to any suggestions of must dos in general. We have never been to KW before:D Dana
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted April 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2013 We have done sunset cruises several times over the years on the Western Union schooner. It has been very enjoyable each time. If you want you can help raise the sails. There used to be a wonderful musician who played sea shanties, but he wasn't aboard the last time we sailed (Oct 2012), and we really missed him. We would also like to try the Jolly Two Rover schooner because it has unique red sails and it appears in the background of my son's and DIL's wedding photos, so we feel attached to it. Aquahound Posted April 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2013 Another vote for the Western Union. Other options are the Jolly Rover II or the Schooner America. All are classic style schooners and personally, I think they are much better than the catamaran sailings, like Fury or Sebago.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted April 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2013 We sailed the America once. It was a daytime cruise and the three of us were the only guests! Our son helped with the sails and we had a really great time. Our son had never been sailing before at that time. He loved every minute.
cibaygirls Posted April 9, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks for the feedback so far. I was talking to my DH and he said he would prefer a catamaran over a schooner, I am of the opposite opinion.. so we have to sort that out
