Just how do you go about getting an OBC? Is it through a TA, booking through Carnial or what?

You could own a 100 shares of Carnival or book a cruise while on board.

It sometimes is available as a booking bonus.

Strictly speaking Carnival doesn't permit TAs to give OBC.

You could also book Early Saver and accumulate OBC due to price reductions.

So far the poll results don't uphold that assertion.

Nah, but it's not a very scientific poll. It would be enormous fun to see the actual books and data from a Carnival cruise. Got any idea how to snag one of those?

Anyway, I suspect most (obviously not all) people who blow ridiculous amounts of money won't necessarily fess up, even in a semi-anonymous poll.

LOL Carnival & PLC doesn't even release by Cruise line results in their financial statements.

Also, I suspect that repeat cruisers, including regulars on this board, are a little less inclined to spring for all the extras. They have been there, done that.

This is probably why Carnival isn't as enthralled with repeat cruisers and platinums as some would like it to be.

From our Easter cruise we had $600 in OBC left over from Early Saver, We spent as we normally would. On last night we cashed out the ballance for cash..When we got home we looked at deals and used the $600 toward our July cruise...:D

Now that is supported by the data. :)

We have $717 in OBC from price drops and we were told we had to spend it all or we would lose what we didn't spend.

If its NON refundable..head to casino open a players card..Place OBC amount to players card from S&S account play 1 pull on the penny slots and cash out..Goto casino cage and cash out..Now you have CASH...:D

That's what they tell you, but I don't know of anyone ever reporting they didn't get the difference back. It is after all your money to begin with.

You can withdraw it from an on board kiosk or through the slot machines in any event.

I am telling you how every single time it has been shown on my onboard account once I boarded.

Its been refundable every single time. .. despite what carnival's small print says.

We have never had more OBC then we spent. The most we had was about $300 and our on board account is usually over $1,000.

That being said, we usually spend the same amount so OBC does not matter, just reduces our bill at the end.

We only had OBC once and that was from propulsion problems and two missed ports. They gave each of us $50. We had never thought of going to the steakhouse before but with that "free" funds, we tried it. Glad we did because we'd never do it again.
