nrenick Posted April 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2013 Because of sequestration, I've heard conflicting reports of how long it takes to get onto the Oasis in Fort Lauderdale. For those of you who've cruised recently, what was your experience? I have 3 young children and don't want to spend hours waiting. Also, we're traveling with friends who are Diamond Members. Would we be able to get on with them? Thanks!!!
jamer8 Posted April 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2013 We boarded on April 13th. We got the email about arriving later but we ignored it. We got to the port probably by 10:40...We had no lines checking in at all , very easy. We went and sat in the waiting area after that for maybe 15 minutes at the most. We did have VIP boarding "coupons" that came with our american express platinum booking deal, so that may have sped things up a little bit, but they barely checked that coupon anyway. Hopefully someone who just did regular boarding will also answer your post. The way we looked at it was that we'd rather get there early and wait at the port at the front of a big line than at the end of a big line later :) Have fun! It's rather sad when it's all over! yogimax Posted April 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2013 Sequestration will have much more to do with getting off the ship than getting on it. We've always been impressed with the way RCCL handles the boarding process at Fort Lauderdale. Probably best to arrive around 11AM.

Rare A&L_Ont Posted April 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2013 Sequestration will have much more to do with getting off the ship than getting on it. We've always been impressed with the way RCCL handles the boarding process at Fort Lauderdale. Probably best to arrive around 11AM. If all the cruisers are not off the ship and the ship cleared, the new cruisers can not get on. We were delayed getting on Oasis until 12:40pm. We were the first to get on, after B2B group. We arrived at our normal 10:45am time and had to entertain our 5 year old for hours. This was early March, and reports have come back to be better than our experience. However, if you have young kids, staying at the hotel a bit longer might be a lot easier. Just our experience.
aks753 Posted April 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2013 On the April 13 sailing, we got to the pier at 10:45 and were on the ship at 11:30. No delay whatsoever.
