Rare Keith1010 Posted May 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2013 We were thinking of taking the train from the Yokohama to Tokyo for the day. Two related questions. 1. How far is the train station in Yokohama from the port? 2. Do bullet trains run between these two locations? Would we purchase the tickets in advance and what web site offers them? Thanks, Keith

Thanks, Keith Yes, you can take the Shinkansen from Yokohama to Tokyo. But it is not a very practical thing to do. The JR Station in Yokohama is about 10 minutes by taxi (or 6 minutes by subway) from the Yokohama cruise terminal. The trip from Yokohama to Tokyo via Shinkansen will take you about 8-10 minutes, and cost you quite a lot. Check the JR Website for English information and fares. Alternatively, there is a subway stop just 2 blocks from the Yokohama Cruise Terminal. Jump on the Minato Mirai subway line there. For 260 yen and 20 minutes you can be at Shibuya Station in Central Tokyo, with no train changes. Note that most Japanese trains and subways do not run after midnight. If you miss the last train, late night taxi fares are very high.
