Mudhen Posted September 26, 2013 Author #26 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Thanks for your reply. The Navigator cruise my daughter and I were on is long over, but John and I will be heading out on the Voyager at the end of June. I, as the only champagne maven, ( John is a vodka man )will keep the choices in mind! Always looking for an interesting bottle...........

We'Re spending a few daysbtherebpost trip and hope I'veChosen well. We are newbie To Regent ....If memory serves me correctly we stayed at the Bauer in 2007 or 2008 and it was very nice and really close to St. Marks square and almost next door to the Doges Palace. Nice room, fantastic bathroom, unsurpassed location, and being able to see the Campanile from your bedroom window - priceless.
UUNetBill Posted September 26, 2013 #29 Share Posted September 26, 2013 We just got back from Islay and so the peaty single malts hold a special place in my heart. If you like Laphroaig, try the Lagavulin 16 - it's a bit smoother. Right now I'm trying to get my hands on some Bowmore Mariner, which is only available in the U.K. I'm kicking myself for not buying a bottle when we were there. I can drink Macallan 12, no problem, but I much prefer the more special single malts. Goodness, it's an expensive habit. :D The Macallan Select Oak is a bit better than the 12 IMO. And I agree, it's an expensive habit...but worth every cent. Other personal favorites: Talisker (actually prefer the 10 over the 16, seems to have more spice), Springbank, Ardbeg, and the Aberlour Abunadh. Hmmm...might need to sip a few drams tonight. :D PS - sorry for the thread hijack. We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic.

Emperor Norton Posted February 20, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Ah, just like the 'extra cost' tours they burn you on they're doing the same for at least some of the liquor. Even though you've paid for some call liquors (eg: GG, Belvedere, Hendricks, Sapphire) they still expect full bar price for something like the Middleton. They should be charging a small up charge rather than full boat. It's not like you haven't paid for most of it.
