mum1234 Posted May 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2013 We are thinking of going on Azamara 14 nite Hong Kong to Shanghai. We are wondering is the weather this time of year ( mid feb - early march) too cold? Love to hear from anyone who has done this trip. Thanks
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2013 Hong Kong and Shanghai can be cool this time of the year. What other ports are on your itinerary? Keith
Chloe1500 Posted May 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2013 Hong Kong is a sub-tropical climate, so even in Feb or March, it will not be too cold. There may be cool evenings. Shanghai will be cooler but not cold either. I traveled for a month in China during March, and in Shanghai, wore a sweater or light jacket. In Hong Kong, it was quite warm. Rare Keith1010 Posted May 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2013 We were in Shanghaii this past March. It was cool. Hong Kong was cool too. Weather patterns are changing so it's hard to know what it will be like going forward. Keith

Chloe1500 Posted May 17, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2013 Maybe Keith and I will again have different opinions/experiences on warm, cool and cold :), but in my opinion, Tokyo in Feb-Mar is cold, Xiamen is warm, and sorry, I have not been to Taiwan. Rare Keith1010 Posted May 17, 2013 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2013 For Xiamen you are looking at average highs and lows of around 65 and 55 (Fahrenheit) in early March. Tokyo can be coll that time of year or even cold depending on when in February or March you go. Shanghai as I mentioned can be cool but again is variable like other places around the world. I have not been to Taiwan either. Keith
maryann ns Posted May 18, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2013 Of course weather varies from year to year. In 2011 we started in Hong Kong (warm), went to Xiamen (wore a sweater), and ended in Shanghai where we spent several days ( varied from cool to warm). silkismom Posted May 18, 2013 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2013 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1726572 We are on this cruise and there is a short roll-call, please join us if you book. We lived in Okinawa back in the early 70's and it was "beach" weather all year long.
