Gambee,

I may have missed the information in the previous 92 pages.:)

My question, with the ship spending three nights in the Bahamas, are the casino and the shops closed for that entire time? Or, are they allowed to open them in the evening?

Thanks,

Hypo

Ship stores and Casino are closed while in any port.....including the 3 days while in port in Bermuda!

Gambee, been catching up on your thread the past several days. We were up to day 3 of your review and pictures and stopped back in the beginning of June because we headed off to Bermuda on June 2-9 on the Breakaway. We had a wonderful time on the Breakaway, really enjoyed the cruise and Bermuda. We liked it so much, we are thinking about going back again next summer on the Breakaway! Thanks so much for your time and effort in putting this thread together. Your pictures are incredible.

Cheers - Ken & Darlene

Anyone here got a chance to fly in one those babies? I think my granny did, but not sure.

Is that the Concord? I did not know they kept in in NYC. I used to live in England very near Heathrow airport and saw the Concord fly out each day.

I am enjoying this review as much as your other two (Sili and Allure). Thanks so much for the absolutely stunning job of documenting the ship. I'm only on Day 1 of the cruise, but am enjoying it so much.

I also loved your photos of NYC. I still cringe at the food court in the basement of the iconic Plaza Hotel, but I guess it makes money!:) We were in NYC this past March, as my son will be attending college there this fall. I enjoy the city very much and loved seeing your photos. It has changed a lot since I was at NYU in the mid-1980s!

Thanks again for another fab review. You know, I am most looking forward to the Breeze review, but I'm anxious to see your opinion of NCL as well.

Please give your mom and family our best!!!

From right there you can also see the rock wall, but if you want to climb you have to go one deck down 15. I never did it, I have thing about wearing helmets that are not mine. Don't look at me like that, we all have our funky things =).

Don't get me wrong, ill do it if I have to. But I just wad a bad experience once and try to avoid it after that.

LOL, I feel the same way. It just took one experience of my children bringing home head lice for me to make a policy of NOT wearing the hats of other people!!

Loving the review!!!

WOW! This was full of great information. So much that now I want to book a trip! I was thinking the Spa Balcony, then we could access the spa. Any thoughts? And YOU ARE SUCH A GOOD SON! When your mother was seasick, you must have been such a comfort! THANKS FOR THE GREAT REVIEW AND PICS!

Gambee....thank you ...thank you for all your fabulous information. Do you happen to know if 1 person can by vibe day passes for the group they are traveling with. We are 8 people and am afraid if we aren't all there at the same time for boarding, that the passes will sell out. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for all you have done for us. We are just back off the Breakaway, and all your reviews and comments ... are all so correct.

We love NCL and loved the concept of the new ship. It was a great cruise--fantastic people,,, but the ship was just ok. Such great ideas and plans the ship should of been great, but due to the small venues it was just ok. The pool area was a joke--whom ever designed that must of been drinking or worse. Everything was soo good, but the venues were so small, and I do not appreciate standing at events. I miss the large Spinneker lounges on the other ships.. didn't like having events and parties in the artium and standing or sitting on floor. As I stated the ship should of been great, if only for larger spaces. ..

Awaiting our next trip on the Gem

Safe sailing

again Thank you sooooo much

Gambee, I know you covered this but I don't know what page it was on. Since you walked your own luggage off I wanted to know what time that was. We were hoping to walk off at 8:30 but didn't know if that was too late? Any info would be appreciated. I bet you thought you wouldn't hear from me again, lol.

Transportation

Getting around Bermuda is fairly easy, and you can get a taxi to show you around the island. You can also rent a motorcycle or use their public transportation system. We opted for the later one, as I figured it was a good way to see the island for 3 days and save some money. Here are their rates (we found that there was no need for the pink route):

Where is the "Pink Route" that you and mom didn't need? Is it a bus or ferry route? I couldn't find it on the maps. This is the most extensive review I've ever seen... GREAT JOB!!

Well, the review started off great, but now you've lost me. One example is the recent post by capp. I am referring to post #127. It couldn't get any worse. Sorry, thanks anyway.

Every party has a pooper... LOL

Gambee, you rock. This review has been the best thing I've read on CC, and I'm only up to the part where you're getting ready to board! Having a single review that includes a timeline of the ship is so incredible... it sort of mirrors my own excitement about the ship as it was being built!

Sorry folks been insanely busy with life among other things, and I had to put CC on the side for a few weeks. I'll try to answer questions from now on. I guess I'll have to catch up with the old posts sometime later this week.

Have a great week everyone.

The Pink Route is a ferry route that crosses Hamilton Harbor and is used by the commuters who work in Hamilton and live across the harbor. There are really no attractions that are near any of the ferry stops so it is unlikely and no need for a tourist would take the ferry.

Thanks so much for all the amazing photos and all the details! I just spent about 6 hours reading it, so I can only imagine how long it took to do it. Know that it was very appreciated! I loved seeing all the breakaway souvenirs in the gift shop. Thief rules on jewellery on the water slides seems a bit ridiculous but I will be sure to take all of it off before riding. I also appreciate you posting all the dailies so I can plan exactly what I want to do. Can anyone who has been on later tell me if they got a free tote bag and if they gave out lanyards?

We were on the June 16th sailing and did not receive a bag nor a lanyard. Not sure if the latitude members got them.

Latitude member here....

did not receive bag nor lanyard.

I asked at the front desk and they said it was for the inaugural sailing only.

Who really knows.

Thank you Gambee for your terrific review!! I truly enjoyed reading it. I have never been on a Norwegian cruise before, but have been on many RCL cruises and one Celebrity. We are seriously thinking about the Breakaway as I live on Long Island and it would be so easy to cruise out of NYC. My daughter is sailing on the Allure on her honeymoon in August, and I suggested she read your Allure review before she goes. Thanks again for the great review, and the beautiful pictures!!!

Thank u very much for promoting my reviews. I hope she has a great cruise. I recommend you try breakaway, while they are not like x or rccl. They still offer a quality product to be enjoyed by all c

Sony RX100. I bought it, but have to try it to see if I like it. I should get her on Friday.

How did you like the new camera? I haven't seen you post any photo's, not sure if that is good or bad?

She is a good camera, I think by far the best point and shoot camera ever produced. But I am still uncertain if I want to ditch my NEX for her. It simply does not compare to the nex, mainly because of the sensor type and size. I guess it comes with the size factor of the camera. I am planning to do a photo shoot on July 14 if the weather cooperates. I will post the pictures on Facebook.

I bought that travel mug for this trip. It is seal proof and maintains the temperatures for a very long time. I am sure you know what was inside it :D. Let it be said that I was pretty happy by then.

Funny, have these cups also ... aren't they great! We bring them on our cruises too and even banging around inside my backpack or tote they don't leak. Good for hot or cold drinks.

I'm enjoying reading your review and I'm only up to sail away but I'll continue until the end. Too bad your sailaway had such bad weather; we live in the NYC suburbs and have cruised so many times out of there but we never tire of it and always take a lot of pictures.

We just booked Quantum of the Seas for 2015 (wooh!) but our choices were between that or Breakaway. Quantum's 12 nt. S. Caribbean itinerary in April won us over; didn't want to do another winter cruise out of NY; been there, done that.

Why don't you join us Gambee ... sorry this is the NCL board but as you can see below we like to switch around but most of our cruises are with NCL.
