Thank You! At least this way i can have a drink while waiting for dinner

I'm reading TOO MANY reviews at the moment so I'm probably wrong on the source, but I think SliceofLife's review said she was quoted 30 minutes so they went to a bar. 45 minutes later they went back to the restaurant and they had given the table away! the restaurant apologized and they were seated right away. Not sure if pager didn't work that far away OR if the staff called the wrong pager.... But, I do remember others saying the pagers worked ship wide...I would think they are similar to the pagers given to parents when they drop off kids at splash???? Those would have to work ship wide.

I have to go read slice's review. I had no idea she had already started it. Thank you for bringing that up.

Gambee first off thanks so much for all your information. My partner, and my three grandkids sale on the 23rd of June and I'm counting the days. Its so much fun reading all about the ship before we head out.

I do have a silly question. On one of your quick FB posts I believe your last day in Bermuda you mentioned going to run to the casino. Did I screw that up or is the casino open on port days? I'm running in six different directions lately so I could have my days mixed up.. :D

I might of got things confused. The casino and stores are not open while the ship is Docked in Bermuda. Only the restaurants are open.

oh my I think I had a foodgasm:eek::o

Nice pics huh? It's hard writing the review and not running to the kitchen to get something to way every time I post food pictures :D.

Thank you Gambee for such a wonderful and detailed review along with the beautiful pictures.

I will be on the Breakaway in August and I am using your review for one stop research.

I also "friended" you on FB.

Thanks again

If it was the last day in bermuda, maybe it was after they left the port?

Welcome aboard. I also recommend you read sliceoflife review. I just started reading it and she has a lot of detail as well.

Well after you leave and the ship is a few miles out they open it again. So possibly. But the docked two full days it is closed.

gambee I want to eat lots of great food right now, but sadly going to gym and then chicken for dinner. Ahhh the sacrifices we make

Indeed, so sad that my metabolism has slowed down so much lately :-/

So after our very comprehensive Muster drill mom and headed up to the room for sail away. I wanted to be there early because SliceofLife was going to meet us there with her husband.

I took a few pictures while I waited for them to arrive to our room.

Gambee, my friend! As I kneel before this computer, I thank you and the balcony gods! :D This picture says a thousand words to me! I've never done an aft cabin but, I've been wanting to. I've always done mid-ship for fear the motion would be really pronounced too far forward or back. However, this time I'm traveling with my BFF and our kids. They've never been on a cruise before and as much as I'm DYING to switch to an aft room but, I don't want to leave her behind and I don't want her to feel pressured into doing it and then feel sick all week. :( I want this cruise to be the BEST vacation she's ever had.

What's your impression on the motion and noise from back there on a ship this large??? I've heard the waters to Bermuda are rougher than caribbean waters so, I was just curious.

Thanks!!!

There was considerable motion on the last day at sea. We wAves from 8-23ft. The ship was moving constantly. I imagine a good group of people got sick. Mom did, I did not.

The noise is heard quite a bit from h2o, but it never bothered us much. Honestly if money was not an issue, I would always get an aft room. :)

Have a great cruise!

At first I was not crazy about the screen, but it grew on me. It actually looks nice with a lot of scenery videos playing all the time.

What a shame that NCL won't use this screen for movies under the stars (at least before the deck parties start at night). Seems like a waste of a perfectly good screen and a family time opportunity that other cruise lines have embraced. :(

That is true, I wondered that myself.

Oh wow Gambee, beyond your generally amazing photos, the pictures of that chandelier in 678 are INCREDIBLE!! By the way, I am getting the feeling that 678 is the only "Atrium" area? Did you miss the big open spaces on other ships like Allure and Silhouette? I love to watch the elevators soar up and down many floors!

Oh and also, the camera has been shipped and should arrive by Friday! All of my troubles got sorted out since last night! :)

That's great to hear about the camera!

There is another atrium with the big screen, it's a really nice place. To be honest no I don't miss it. It is a different concept and it seems to work great for NCL. The way all these different small venues are separated I a great way to spread up people in the ship. I am sure some folks will miss the open concept, but for me it was just fine.

Gambee, you should be a professional photographer! All your pictures are incredible but the chandelier is awesome! icon14.gifThanks for taking the time to do the review. I think I was counting down your cruise in anticipation of your review. It's like a favorite author, you always want the next book!icon7.gif

Gambee first great review love the pictures can't wait to sail on her next year.

I was wondering and if someone asked sorry ahead of time I know they have cabana's on the ship do you know if you can go online before the cruise and reserve them??

Tommy!! Long time no see! We are doing Getaway in April 2014 and Breakaway in June 2014. Try to book one of those if you can. ;)

Awesome review so far!!! I've been following you since the "Everything" thread. I still have a bit of a wait until I experience Breakaway, but am enjoying all the info and pics of this beauty :)

I have two questions. DO you happen to remember if there were any Wii U's in the 3-5 category (turtles I believe)?? My 5yr old told me he would die if he didn't get a chance to play while aboard (I know, dramatic..lol). Also, do the specialty restaurants have a kids menu, or somewhat kid friendly food??

Thanks so much! Looking forward to reading the rest of your review :D

Humm, I don't think I saw the wii's down there. Did you check all the pictures from the first level? In case that there are none he can always play in the atrium, they have it open for people to play. You can just bring him with you and he can play in a huge screen!

I am not sure about the kids menu for specialty restaurants. I remember talking to someone who said that they pay half from an adult. But I really not sure what they offer them with that cover charge.

As per the Freestyle Daily:

"All children 4-12 years of age dine for half price when they order from our kid's specialty restaurant menus. Children dine for free when they order from our regular kid's menu."

Thanks Gambee! I didn't realize you could play in the atrium. He'd love that! And if he doesn't get a chance to, he'll live without video games for a week :D

Gambee ... we are booked in cabin 12904 on Getaway in October 2014. A bit worried about the privacy if I am in the bath, or having a shower. Not bothered about my partner and son seeing me from the balcony but don't want the people from cabin 12906 to beable to look over and get an eyeful!! I know that the windows are angled in the bathroom to give more privacy. I know you were in cabin 12906. Was it possible to see inside the cabin? (be careful what you say ... it was a cc member that was staying in this cabin when you were onboard the Breakaway ..... don't want to reveal too much
