wrxrob Posted May 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Just curious, have there been any changes made to the Crown Princess since '08? Our first cruise was back then, and we are considering another this year. Not surprisingly, the Crown has the itinerary we want to check out. I was just curious if the restaurants may have changed around any? The casino? the spa? the pool? any new rules/regs/etc? We loved our voyage on the Crown Princess back in 2008, and look forward to another great trip with Princess again.
MauiLvrs Posted May 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2013 We loved our Crown cruise and are happy that it will be on the west coast ... and sad that it will probably cost us $$$
Feelin' Nauti' Posted August 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2013 I like to know this too. I haven't sailed on her since her inaugural sailing back in '06. Do they still have the Seafood extravaganza? :D
e71465 Posted August 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2013 We're sailing on her for the 3rd time in December. If you're sailing after December, I can give you feed back when I return.
Pam in CA Posted August 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2013 No remodeling of the Crown Princess. She's been in dry dock but that was for maintenance, hull scraping and painting, updated communications and electronics, etc. Changes could be pillowtop mattresses; a new intranet system whereby you can check the Patter, your onboard folio, etc. on any device with WiFi, including smart phones; faster and more reliable Internet; menu changes with more "homestyle" options; larger flat-screen TVs; etc. I had a pillowtop mattress on the Crown last February but I don't know if all cabins have them now. As for the Intranet, I know that's being rolled out to all Princess ships and I don't know if the Crown has been updated yet.
Mom33 Posted August 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2013 The captain and crew have probably changed;) The menus may have changed also. Might have some new entertainment also. The nuts and bolts of the ship are the same over all.:D There has been a change in smoking rules. There is no smoking in cabins or on balconies. Smoking is restricted to certain areas of the ship. TVanTuyl Posted August 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2013 are all 4 of the pools uncovered? It looked like it when I clicked on the 4 pool pictures on the princess website, but I don't trust anything anymore!:)

Pam, do you have any info on which ships have had their Intranets updated so far?

Does it cost money for that service, or is the wi-fi free? And if so, does it only work to check their stuff or is it general wi-fi?
QM2 fan Posted October 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Wifi signal was easily picked up last week, but chargeable, so I didn't bother. Didn't think much of the food, and the beer selection was garbage- all american bottled rubbish...not that impressed I'm afraid....
flamomo Posted October 4, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 4, 2013 NO free Wifi on any Princess ship! However Platinum and Elite guests do get credit toward the cost of an internet access package.

And if so, does it only work to check their stuff or is it general wi-fi?This is a YouTube video about Princess@Sea on the Royal. Just as you have been able to access Princess.com without logging in and using internet minutes, the same is true for accessing Princess@Sea. To access anything else on the internet you will still need to log in and use minutes.

OK,maybe I should have been more specific...no *decent* beer available-very poorly kept (flat) Stella available in one bar only-and no offers from crew to fetch it for you. I stand by my comments on the food..luke warm and only adequately executed. Nicely presented though.
