terrifish Posted June 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2013 We thought on our overnight from the ship in San Francisco we might go to the Beach Blanket Babylon show at 8 PM. Any opinions? Also, how far is it from the cruise ship dock and what kind of transportation will we need. Thanks for the help.
nna Posted June 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2013 it is a fun show...some insider SF jokes, but not many. it is about a 5 minute cab ride from the ship in north beach. maybe go out to dinner before hand along columbus blvd or chinatown. maybe a 10 min cab ride. not far. Bulaprincess Posted June 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2013 I agree that it's a good show. I'm not from the area, so did not know there was any (inside) jokes. I still found it very fun.
Dayenu Posted June 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2013 Check out Goldstar website for 1/2 price tickets. Sometimes they have them for BBB. This is a good restaurant in the area if you want a local dinner: http://www.etuttoqua.com/
terrifish Posted June 7, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted June 7, 2013 Thanks everyone for the tips. Any suggestions for seats-- two of us are short, so should we sit upstairs? Which are best for seeing everything? There seems to be quite a difference in prices.
nna Posted June 8, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2013 it is a small theater/nightclub. we sat on the main floor...are short, and had no problem seeing. i would sit a bit forward if you can. it has some local political jokes, and the time I saw it had a great joke on our local power company...that we were the only ones laughing...didn't matter at all. LdyDDS Posted June 9, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2013 if your are fun and pretty liberal ......you will LOVE LOVE LOVE the show! It is truly a SF experience!
Allis154 Posted June 18, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2013 Went to this a few years ago...we enjoyed the show to a point, taking a taxi from our hotel (tuscan inn), and walking back. We did find the show...raunchy....and when we made this remark to some native San Francisco-ians they replied...."Its SF...what did you expect?!" While we consider ourselves pretty liberal and fun, this is an experience I wouldn't pay the price of the tickets to repeat. Too each their own... chipmaster Posted June 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 24, 2013 An iconic part of SFO, if you want to be a tourist then its right up there with Golden Gate, Pier 39, Coit tower, cable cars, and alcatraz of things to check off.

ming Posted June 25, 2013 #12 Share Posted June 25, 2013 It's great. They said that ‘The Committee’ on Broadway was raunchy, too in the mid-sixties and seventies, but it entertained hordes of folk and launched many famous acting careers (Peter Bonerz, Howard Hesseman, Rob Reiner…..and more). …It’s not raunchy….. It’s San Francisco asking you to sit down, relax and smoke a bowl. :D
partymaker Posted July 1, 2013 #13 Share Posted July 1, 2013 Saw it two weeks ago.....it was fabulous....highly recommend. We took a cab there and back....no problem getting one. We sat upstairs on the right side of the stage....perfect seats with no one in front of you....try for the middle of the side section. Reserved seats are the way to go. ENJOY!!!
