Donna, it isn’t just you that finds the CD convention a challenge. Grandeur of the Seas is currently operating on a 4-week cycle, so my cruise is the first one on this itinerary since the convention. Somebody on the ship missed a change for the Chili Cookoff and page 2 of today’s compass says:

Allure OTS - Jerome Sueur began March 1 until the ship goes into dry dock, then he will be CD once the ship returns to service for all of the European cruises thru Oct 25 What are the dry dock dates for Allure???

Donna - Allure sets sail Sunday 4/19 on its transatlantic to Barcelona - arriving Friday May 1, 2015. The next cruise on Allure is listed as a 5-day short cruise on Tuesday May 19th...before doing its regular 7-day Mediterranean cruise schedule thereafter.

 

So it would appear the dry dock (supposedly at the Cadiz, Spain location) would happen sometime in the 5/4-5/18 two-week window timeframe.

Elvis just put up on his FB page that when he returns from vacation in May, he is heading to Vision. He did not say as CD or AM, however. Change of scenery for him, both ship and itinerary.

Donna, has Gordon Whatman retired from RCCL? He was the cruise director on our first cruise (Nordic Empress) and saw him last time on the Radiance. Gordon was on Radiance for the longest time and then just appeared elsewhere sporadically. I loved him as a CD. He has/had a web site...tou might find some info there. He was on a Royal ship not too long ago.

Gordon was the best. I will always remember my husband taking my picture and Gordon jumping into the photo just as it was taken. We were fast friends the rest of the cruise. Always hoped we would cruise together but it never happened.

This makes more sense than him going back to Jewel since Jewel is repositioning and he needs to be on itineraries with larger Spanish speaking demographics.

 

It was announced on Jewel that Elvis had been promoted, so I am going with him as CD for now.

CD Steve Davis and AM Magic Marvin are now staying longer on the ship to do the crossing together as a team. Both are scheduled for vacation on April 26th when they arrive in Barcelona. Mercedes is correct on taking over for him at this time. CD Steve has no clue at this time how long his vacation will be or what ship he will return too for a short contract since the senior staff wants him back on the Vision when it returns back in the US. I have asked his Mom to keep me informed so I can tell you correct info.

Mike Hunnerup will be CD on EX thru May 15th or so (just on his FB, he's posting from Cadiz)

 

As far as CD email addresses . . . . I think it would be somewhat, um, dangerous (may not be the right descriptor) to give out the protocol here as the CD's would get BOMBARDED by CC'ers, spammers, etc. Best thing to do is to send an email to customer service or loyalty and it will get forwarded.

 

The lovely Clo on BR isn't on FB often when on contract, and depending on what you're asking, perhaps another dept can help?

In another thread about Vision of the Seas, it was mentioned that Steve Davis (CD) and the Activity Manager, Magic Marvin had their respective contracts extended, and will be staying on the ship until after Vision does its TA to Barcelona. That would coincide with when Elvis Pinto, joins that ship -- either as CD or AM. Time will tell.
