Tour of the Eclipse

Does anyone know if the Eclipse offers tours of the boat. This is something I think my parents will enjoy. Years ago I did Disney and RCI tours of the bridge and " behind the scenes".

how do you book a tour, if they are available please?

Want to do as a surprise for their golden wedding anniversary.

There is a general "get to know the ship" tour on embarkation day, just an orientation

On most cruises there is also a galley tour, you either sign up for or sometimes it's just an open time and you show up and join the tour.

Sometimes there are invitations to see the bridge. If your parents let Guest Relations know that this is a special occasion, they may be able to be invited.

And there is a rather expensive tour of the ship, including the bridge and other behind the scenes areas. This isn't offered on every itinerary, though.

Im not sure if you mean tours of the ship once onboard as a passenger or not? As explained by cruisestitch there are tours if you are a passenger but they also do them if you aren't!

The next one is August 31st on Eclipse in Southampton there is generally one a year.

This one is full and has a waitlist, the details are as follows

Please also note that the cost of this ship visit is GBP 25.00 per person

and the cost includes the following:

*09:30am Guests should meet at Cruise Terminal

*10:00am Commence tour of Ship escorted by your Celebrity Cruises hosts

*12:30 noon Lunch with your hosts

*2:00pm Disembark ship escorted by your hosts

* Please note that the timing's advised may be subject to change.

On our cruise last year on the Constellation we received an unsolicited invitation to both a tour of the engine room and the bridge! We felt very privileged. The tour of the bridge necessitated security checks which were reassuring and was really interesting !

I have no idea why we were selected - we were just in an oceanview stateroom but it was our first trip on Celebrity. I had written a note to customer services pointing out the really considerate service one of the cabin stewards had done (not our room steward) so I don't know if that had any bearing on it.

I don't know if I dreamed this or if it is true, but I seem to remember someone posted last year that you can borrow an ipad and have a audio tour of the ships vast art collection. Maybe someone can confirm this.

From the Celebrity website:

Self-Guided Art Tour on an iPad

On our ships, you'll surround yourself with one of the world's largest permanent collections of contemporary art, complete with audio tours and an interactive, self-guided iPad® art tour.

Their is a tour program, it's $150 per person and it's limited to 15 people. You have to book to Guest Relations desk once on board. See Celebrity website.

And as kindly stated/referred to above by nikkiml...this from the Celebrity website:

See How It's Done Tour

A comprehensive look at many guest and crew areas including the Bridge, Mooring Deck, Engine Control Room, Main Dining Room Galley, Theatre, Crew Mess Hall, Crew Gym, Officer Offices, store rooms, prep rooms and more. Three-hour tour on sea days, $150 per guest.

The tour will be followed by a wine-paired lunch in the Main Dining Room. Tours have a maximum of 15 guests. Must be at least six years old to participate. To book, visit the Guest Relations Desk once onboard. Availability is limited to one or two tours per sailing so book early.

Enjoy !

Woody

There is a behind the scenes tour which costs $150 and needs a minimum of 9 people, though guest relations indicated to me they might go with a few less. On my Eclipse cruise last year I put my name down for the tour on day 2 but as there were no other takers, it never happened.

I then bugged the really nice guy at guest relations, Luis and on about day 5 or 6 returned to my stateroom to find a bridge tour invitation!

It was really very good and informative, it's not for everyone but if your parents appreciate the view and the technology they'll love it. I am new to cruising so I don't know how you can arrange this before hand, but I would call Celebrity and ask, no reason why they can't at least arrange the free of charge bridge visit.
