Booking open passage for someone else as gift

While I am on a cruise - can I actually book an open passages as a gift for my daughter (who has a captains club membership # but is not on this cruise currently with me). My name would not be on it as I would be giving this as a gift. I would just be purchasing it while I am on the cruise to get the benefit of the $100 deposit and onboard credit for her and her husband for the open passage cruise.

I bought one for someone else with no problem. They're not going to say no to taking your money.

Although I have never tried to purchase one for someone that was not on the cruise, but I am surprised. I would think it would be a popular option if you have a friend that is cruising at a different time than you. Other wise you could use the family and friend option.
