Hi all

We are going on our first Princess Cruise in August to the Fjords on Crown Princess. Just wondered if the Crown Princess fans out there would be able to share their good experiences from this ship so we know what to look forward to.

Thanks

I suppose there is a chance of Noro on every ship so I am not overly worried about that.

Good to hear you enjoyed all of your cruises on the Crown.

We sailed on the Crown back in March 2011, and she's a beautiful ship ... very, very elegant yet somehow not pretentious or stuffy.

One thing we did that was especially memorable was "Chef's Table." They take you on a tour of the galley during dinner preparations, where they serve you special appetizers and champaign, then escort you to a special table in the dining room where you have a meal you will never forget. The table setting alone made my jaw drop. I'm not even a "foodie," yet I still found it to be truly stupendous. They host it only two nights, and the seats were limited to ten guests each time. Cost was $75 per person at the time, and I think it's $10 less if you opt out of the wine (which is abundant and paired with each course.) Since seating is so limited, we signed up immediately upon entering the ship by calling dining services from the house phone at the guest services desk where you board. We couldn't believe our luck when we got in! If you end up doing this, eat very light that day.

Another favorite hangout was the International Cafe. It's a little spot on the first level of the Piazza (Deck 5, if I remember correctly). It's a great place to grab a light lunch. Don't miss the desserts and pastries!

Anyway, our Crown voyage is one of my fondest travel memories. They just made everything so special. Enjoy!

Thanks gstewart for starting this thread.

We are going on the Crown for Alaska next year and then later on the 28 day Hawaii/Tahiti.

So Adagio Lounge and Skywalkers are basically the same? Does one have a better location for daytime reading and watching the ocean?

I was just on the Sapphire - which I loved....but, the casino seemed small. Is the Crown's bigger?

The casino on Crown is rather large!

I thought the Adagio Lounge was the most beautifully decorated lounge on a cruise ship. It's contemporary and classic at the same time. Just tastefully appointed and creates the right ambiance.

. . . So Adagio Lounge and Skywalkers are basically the same? Does one have a better location for daytime reading and watching the ocean?

They're in the same location, high up aft, but on different decks. Adagio is on Deck 16, has a more intimate feel, and is only half the ship's width, so a smaller venue. It has windows along one side only; the view isn't really the focal point of the room. However, the terrace outside Adagio is fantastic, with wonderful views. There's tables and chairs and a cute little fountain -- it's a great place for an afternoon iced tea with book in hand.

Skywalker's, on the other hand, stretches the width of the ship, and the floor-to-ceiling windows go all the way around three sides -- you can't miss the view up there! The space is more open and brighter in daytime than Adagio, and probably better for ocean-watching.

For quiet cozy reading/chatting, and definitely for pre-dinner/post-dinner cocktails, Adagio is supreme! Try the Citrus Bellini, a drink available only at Adagio (not even the menu on the Royal's new Bellini's Bar has the Citrus Bellini).

We have sailed twice on the Crown. Gorgeous. Love the piazza. Loved the coffee card and the international cafe for cappacinos first thing in morning. All the pools. Aft pool is great and second story of the aft pool has a couple of nooks where you get a nice cozy spot to lay out in the sun. Their karaoke selections are the best on the ocean...In my experience. You will love it.

We are on the cruise with you. The Crown is my favorite ship. Pam already mentioned Adagio. I love it too. Nothing better than a drink there before heading over to Sabitinis for dinner. BTW we loved Edinburgh when we visited two years ago.

Fantastic - I am really looking forward to it. We have only been on one ship which was the Carnival Breeze last year. We loved it but we do expect the Crown to be a bit different but variety is the spice of life. I am just happy to be on a ship visiting interesting locations. In my opinion there is no better way to travel.

I have been watching youtube videos of the Crown and she does look stunning. We have a balcony cabin on Baja deck so looking forward to taking in the scenery from there.

I am really glad you enjoyed Edinburgh when you visited. I am ridiculously proud of my city lol.

We were on her in October last year for a 12-nighter in the Med. Not many kids onboard and the ship itself I thought was well designed and very nice inside. The Cove Balconies (which we had) were fantastic and very private.
