When you may get your stateroom allocation after booking a Guarantee Category

Hi,

We took the plunge and took the gamble of a VH Guarantee on Nieuw Amsterdam this Aug. When do HAL usually allocated a stateroom, or is there no "usual"?

Thanks.

We booked an SZ gty on the Westerdam last year and got our room assignment at 16 days out. Then at about 11 days out we received an upsell offer. Not sure how "usual" this is but you could get all the way to the pier without an assignment. Just adds to the fun! Good luck and hope you get the cabin you wish for!:)

There is no telling when you will get an your cabin assignment. Some people get them about 3 weeks before the cruise, some 2 weeks before the cruise. People here have reported that they got the cabin assignment just a couple of days before the cruise and a couple of people got the assignments at the dock.

If you do not have your cabin allocated should you still use online check-in as soon as possible after booking. HAL say check-in ideally at least 30 days prior?

Yes. Worst case, the porters who take your luggage have a list of all cabin assignments to refer to when you check in.

Guarantees are a crap shoot, but we kind of like the "coming home" feeling when we do get our cabin assignment.

We've done 9 guarantees. The furthest out we got an assignment was 18 days, the latest at 3 days, and one at 7 days. The other 6 were either 10 or 11 days out.

On this forum most people report getting their assignment between 12 and 7 days out.

I have yet to fill in the boarding pass information early.

Usually do it about 2 or 3 weeks before the cruise.
