We would like to rent a car for 1/2 a day in Halifax. Which rental places are the closest to where the ship will dock?

Thrifty and National are the two that are closest to the pier.

 

Thrifty is at 1181 Hollis St, Halifax, NS B3H 2P6 ‎(902) 422-445

 

National is at 1161 Hollis St, Halifax, NS B3H 2P6 ‎(902) 423-0227

 

Both are within walking distance to the ship.

they are all in the same office - Via train station across from the pier. Very convenient p/u and drop off. They bring the car right to the entrance of the station, and you drop it off at the same spot with a gas station right across the street for fill up. However, the office could get overwhelmed as most of pax show up at the same time. Don't be surprised by delay.

We just rented through Alamo which shared the office with National. Literally a 2 minute walk across the street to the VIA Train Station. An added bonus is that there is free internet in the train station. Our car was parked outside the station and we returned it to the exact same place. Easiest car rental that we ever had on or off of a ship.

You may be given a map, but you should plan ahead. The usual place people go is Peggy's Cove. Some people venture on further to Lunenburg. You would have a great day by exploring coastal roads and fishing villages on your own.
