Disembark in Perth..what to do with luggage?

We are on the Solstice from Auckland to Perth in February. We found (Triple Tour -Fremantle to Perth) [trolly, boat, double decker bus] on our own, since Celebrity doesn't offer any tour there. However, we don't know what to do with our luggage. I know on cruises we've taken from here in the States, you can take advantage of the service Celebrity offers where you can send your luggage on ahead to the airport and don't see it again until your final destination baggage claim. However, we are wondering if this can be done on international flights. Does anyone know or has anyone used this type service? Thanks

Hi PAsailors2. Welcome to Cruise Critics.

Although I cannot answer your question, I see we are on the same cruise. Come on over to our Roll Call http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1617701&page=54 - we are a friendly bunch and we have over 100 CCer's registered. Some one of the Roll Call may be able to answer your question too!

There is a storage place in the Perth Train Station Complex for luggage it is called: http://www.cityofperth.wa.gov.au/web...e-Rest-Centre/ check the web site.

Also, if you were to stay in Fremantle - a previous posted mentioned that there was luggage storage at the Maritime Museum: http://museum.wa.gov.au/museums/maritime

To catch the train into Perth - just look right as you cross over the bridge from the passenger terminal - you will see the train station about 500 metre's on your right - this takes you right into the Perth City Train Station Complex

From there you could visit the Perth mint, do the Kings park through the city on a tram and hop on hop off as and when you like have a look at the attached link - then you could pick your luggage up at the Station and jump a taxi to the airport. Just a thought for things to do. You don't say what time your flight is? http://www.bigthanks.com.au/experiences/kings-park-and-city-explorer-tram-tour/

If you were to stay in Fremantle for the morning, you could do the Maritime Museum ( leave your luggage there) the Prison tour, the Fremantle Markets, E sheds, Round House, then pick your luggage up - jump the train to Perth - leave your luggage there, and hop on the tram - or whatever, do the mint, London Court, Barrack Street Jetty - maybe a river wine cruise - (depending on time you have available)

Then back to the train station, pick your luggage up and jump a taxi to the airport - (I seem to have gone on a bit don't I ....sorry I get carried away )

We are doing the Auckland to Perth in Feb. 2014 and found that Celebrity has a tour that takes you to the airport when it is finished. Seemed kind of expensive, but we don't leave until almost midnight and sure didn't want to spend all day at the airport. What the above posters suggested sounds interesting and I might suggest that to husband and my sister. Thanks for asking the questions and for the answers.

Perth is really easy to get around if you can find storage for your luggage. There is no traffic, compared to Sydney where I live. We reckon that when three cars are near each other they call it a traffic jam!

You may be able to check your luggage at the airport in the morning, or at least store it, depending on the airline, and then go off sightseeing. The airport is very close to the city.

Oh, Karenella, when did you last come to Perth? The airport is anything from a 25 min drive - 12.5 kms to whatever time of day you go there - up to 40 mins and over. The traffic is pretty chaotic - very busy. Our Sydney sider friends just come back to Perth - are gobsmacked - they would rather navigate Sydney than Perth.

I do stand corrected! A sign of my age that I remembered being there a couple of years ago but I discovered it was actually in 2003! Well in 2003 there was NO traffic but I know a lot has happened since then.

It says on the Perth Airport website that they have luggage storage facilities and are the prices etc are there.

For what would be involved in taxi charges....

(not cheap in Perth)...

you could hire a car for the day at Fremantle.......

store your luggage in it and tour around all day

and drop off at the airport.:D

Does anyone know how taking luggage on the train from Fremantle to Perth is handled?

We'll probably have 3 pieces or so and we will be traveling with another copule who will probably have the same.

Is there an area on the train where you can place your luggage or do you take it to your seat? We don't want to block the aisle.

There are no luggage area on the trains - pick a carriage with seats on either side - gives you space in the middle - there's only four carriages to a train in Perth - and as long as you aren't in the rush hours - up to 9.00 am and between 3.30 to around 6.30 at night you would be ok - here is a link to send an email to Transperth and check straight from the horses mouth.

http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/ContactUs.aspx

We have done it - four people - 6 cases and hand luggage. Done the trip both ways - for two mini cruises from Fremantle - getting there and back - including the train from near where we live - into Perth, then Freo and back.

The train station in Freo is about 500 metres from the cruise terminal

No problem - if you were to decide to do Perth tourist things - like the mint, kings park, London Court, shopping etc - there is luggage storage at Perth Train Station - here is the link for that: http://www.cityofperth.wa.gov.au/web/Living/Community-Services-and-Facilities/Citiplace-Rest-Centre/

Here is another link for the Perth tram - this stops at all the tourist places - it does hop on hop off - but double check - http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll/qscr=tsdt/locn=Perth+(and+vicinity),+Western+Australia,+Australia/loid=180013/ofid=7500/stat=5/flgc=0/wtid=28 this is a good way to see Perth if you are time poor

Though I have posted a similar link in one of my posts above - (can never have enough info) ;)

Don't despair Margot - look on the Transperth site - email them and get them to send you the CAT bus routes. They are all wheelchair accessible - and free - they cover all the tourist places in Perth City - and they are hop on hop off. I have attached another link http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/AccessibleServices.aspx

Here is a map for the Free CATS - if you want to have a look but it wouldn't hurt to email as well: http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Default.aspx?tabid=362&id=73
