Chops Grill on Oasis

Recommended Posts

Getting very excited for our future cruise on Oasis! Has anyone been to Chops Grill? Any comments re: the food? Does anyone know what the dress code is? Is a sundress appropriate attire for women and is "business casual" appropriate for men?:p

We always make a trip to Chops Grille if it is available (unfortunately it is not on our upcoming Adventure cruise). We are admitted beef lovers and they offer nice cuts of steak and the baked potatoes on the US based cruises can be the size of small footballs :)

I normally wear slacks and a collared shirt, you will be more than fine in a sun dress.

We ate at Chops on our last Oasis cruise (10/12) and were not impressed with it. We all ordered the filet and the sides were served family style. Our waiter was very talkative and kept interrupting us during dinner. At the end of dinner, he started peddling some type of special cocktail glass. We are booked on another Oasis cruise and will not be eating at Chops.

We ate at Chops on our Oasis cruise (6/8) and were impressed with it. We also had the filet and sides. Waiter was very helpful and friendly. There was no peddling of anything. We would be willing to eat at Chops again (if the budget allows).

I bring this up just to say your experience could be different.

Here's some food porn from Chops...

Chops was the second leg of our dining package that night. We remembered our lesson from Giovanni's and just got tap water. Anna wanted Iced Tea and the waiter (Dominic) went outside to get some from a bar because Chops didn't have theirs brewed yet. Anna's salad (they bring you a variety of dressings. This was a vinaigrette)

My 'Cheese and Onion' soup (I know it as French Onion)

We both got the Filet Mignon. Anna just got the Petite (7oz). I got the 10oz.

Sides are served 'family style'. Whatever kind you order, they bring out and put in the center of the table for everyone to enjoy.

Going Left to right, Mashed Potatoes, Mushrooms, Roasted Potatoes, and Green Beans. For dessert, I had creme brule (which they actually lit at the table)

And Anna had the Chocolate Mousse Cake

We eat at Chops on every ship that offers one and the food and service has always been consistently wonderful.

They have some wonderful seafood as well as other entrees. The sides are amazing and I always leave too full.

Enjoy!

Chops is our favorite and we always eat there, at least once and most times twice during a 7 day cruise. My word of advice, if you order a baked potato, it is big enough for at least two people. We like that the vegetables are shared and I love their signature salad!

I cant believe that. DO you mean he was trying to sell you the wine decanter? Was the food bad?

The only thing I wish they would do is offer better desserts, I am not a frosting, gooey dessert type of person...a nice fruit cobbler, hot apple pie or something along those lines would be great. It is supposed to be modeled after American steakhouses, what is more American than apple pie?

After the dinner at Chops on Freedom, DH said that was the last time for him. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner, perfect filet. He had seafood and didn't like it. I'm booking Chops for our upcoming Oasis cruise and dragging him with me.
