Disembarkation Day in Manhattan - What to do until flight departure?

Hi,

We're cruising out of NYC via Breakaway this summer. Here's our dilemma: Our flight out of Newark on disembarkation day doesn't leave until 6:30pm.

Any suggestions on what to do during the day besides enjoying lovely Newark International Airport? Obviously we'll have luggage, and we're traveling with children ages 8 and 9.

Thanks for the help!

Take a cab to Schwartz Travel on W. 36th St, check your luggage, and walk to Times Square with the kids or take a cab, bus or subway to wherever else grabs your fancy. Pick up your luggage by 3 pm and walk or take a cab the few blocks to Port Authority Bus Terminal to pick up the Newark Airport bus. It's $16 for the adults and the kids are free. You can even walk to Times Square via the bus terminal to find the exact location the bus leaves from - it is an on the street departure instead of an inside the terminal departure, so it should be easy to find.

Store your luggage at Schwartz as 138East suggests, then head over to Rockefeller Center at 50th Street and 6th Avenue. Lots to see here, the Top of the Rock for the view, an architectural and art walking tour of the complex, the NBC Studio Tour plus shops, restaurants, bistros galore.

I personally think the view from Rockefeller Center is better than Empire State, because you are in the middle of the city and can see Central Park and the Empire State Building.

Stroll along Fifth avenue, visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, FAO Schwarz, Tiffany, Saks' Fifth Avenue or head into Central Park at 59th and Fifth right near the Plaza Hotel.

How far from Schwartz Travel to Newark Airport Bus Terminal, do you have an address-? How long is the ride to EWR- thanks so much, we may also have the same scenario in June- being completely unfamiliar with NY any easy directions much appreciated.

The addresses of their two locations and other information about Schwartz Travel can be found at their website: http://www.schwartztravel.com/

The West 36th St. location is physically closer to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, but the airport bus also has stops at Grand Central Terminal (41st St.) and Bryant Park at 5th Ave and 42nd Street. If you're sightseeing at, say, Rockefeller Center or along 5th Avenue, I think it's preferable to use the Schwartz Travel facility at 46th St. between 5th and 6th Ave. and then catch the airport bus from the Bryant Park 5th Ave. and 42nd St. location.
