brenjmull2 Posted July 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2013 I was reading about the cork fees and decided I would rather just get a wine package.. Can anyone tell me what the average price would be per bottle? We drink at least one a day..We are not wine snobs so we would be fine with the lower end package.. thanks..(that is one bottle per day, not glass)
rvsullivan Posted July 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2013 $26-28 per bottle and up. You can get a discount by buying in quantity, i.e., six bottles etc. Prices go all the way up to about $200 per bottle if you like!!!;)

don't-use-real-name Posted August 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2013 Just got off the NCL Sun SB Anchorage to Vancouver and bought the wine package on the day of embarking. *********CAUTION********* Everything worked just fine bought 8 bottles for my companions and self. Reading somewhere in the CC forum about the wine package being discounted. Well here is the scoop - the prices quoted are the already discounted prices including the abominable corkage fee. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx There is no further discount ! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get charged to your stateroom account ! The wine package can be bought near the Registration/Pursers desk on the main deck (5) atrium next to the elevators - also topside at the Lido/Pool Deck (11). You are given little white slips of paper -1- each for each bottle labeled with selection. You can take the slip to any bar and get your bottle(s) to take to your stateroom. Or when dining in any one of the restaurants or speciality formats give the wine stewart the slip and have the bottle brought to your table. You can take the bottle to your stateroom or have it labeled and kept for your next restaurant visit. Simple and nice - white wine is kept chilled and the reds at celler temp. Ordered a bottle you made a mistake in selection - as long as it has not been opened it is exchangeable for any selection in that grouping. Selecting from a more expensive group and the difference will be charged to your stateroom account. For thrifty drinkers expect to get three servings out of a bottle. About maybe 8 ounces each in their wine glasses. RECAP OF WINE LIST - - - Again these prices are already discounted ! ALSO NOTE STUPID RULE - YOU MUST PURCHASE BOTTLES IN EVEN NUMBERS ! VIVA VINO by Norwegian Cruise Line * Please list the number of bottles for your selection The Enthusiast * 4 Bottles - $88 6 Bottles - $132 8 Bottles - $176 * ___ Beringer, Sparkling White Zinfandel – California ___ Lindemans, Bin 90 Moscato – Australia ___ Ruffino, Pinot Grigio – Delle Venezie, Italy ___ De Aureo Spirito, Sauvignon Blanc – Langeudoc, France ___ Woodbridge by Robert Mandavi, White Zinfandel – California ___ Alice White, Chardonnay – Southeastern Australia ___ Colores Del Sol, Malbec – Mandoza, Argentina ___ Ravenswood, “Zen of Zin” Zinfandel – California ___ Errazuriz, “Estate” Merlot – Colchagua Valley, Chile ___ Black Opal, Shiraz/Cabernet – Southern Australia * The Aficionado Including selections from the “Enthusiast” category plus the following * 4 Bottles - $98 6 Bottles - $146 8 Bottles - $196 * ___ Rosemont, Riesling – Southeastern Australia ___ Estancia, Pinot Grigio – California ___ Matua Valley, Sauvignon Blanc – Marlborough, New Zealand ___ Robert Mandavi Private Selection, Chardonnay – California ___ Estancia, Pinot Noir – Monterey, California ___ Rancho Zabaco, “Heritage Vines” Zinfandel – Sonoma, California ___ Sylvester Winery, “Kiara Reserve” Merlot - California ___ Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Valley, California * The Connoisseur Including selections from the “Enthusiast” and “Aficionado categories plus the following * 4 Bottles - $110 6 Bottles - $162 8 Bottles - $216 * ___ Dry Creek, Fume Blanc – Sonoma, California ___ Isabel Mandavi, Deep Rose’ – Napa Valley, California ___ Wild Horse, Chardonnay – Central Coast, California ___ Spellbound, Petite Sirah – California ___ Chareau St. Jean, Cabernet Sauvignon – California * A 15% gratuity will be added to your check for all beverages orders. *Prices are subject to change. *Your check may reflect applicable VAT for certain ports or itineraries
garycarla Posted August 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2013 ....Well here is the scoop - the prices quoted are the already discounted prices including the abominable corkage fee... There is not a corkage fee on bottles purchased directly from NCL. The price is the price. By the way, we spent a few extra days in Boston after our recent cruises. We would have been happy to pay the NCL price for wine when visiting a few bars or restaurants in Boston.
Rare terrydtx Posted August 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2013 One thing that seems confusing, if I go to a bar to get one of my bottles to take back to my cabin I have to pay the 15% gratuity as well? If that is the case then we need to add 15% to the package prices. My understanding is that if you bring your own wine you pay $15 per bottle corkage fee and no gratuity is added when you drink the wine in any restaurant or other public place. millerspapa Posted September 7, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 7, 2013 If we purchase a wine package for 8 bottles, so we have to select all 8 bottles up front?? I was wondering if we could purchase an 8 bottle package and select from the appropriate list as we go. My fear is that we may not like one of the wines and would not want to have preselected several bottles. It would be better if we could try one and if we like it, keep drinking it and if not, select another one next time. The typical wines we would drink are not on the lists that I have seen. Any help on this would be appreciated. Our other option is to purchase wine and taking it on ourselves. The problem with that is we are flying into Miami the night before and wont have enough time to try and find a liquor store near our hotel to purchase. Plus we would not know the selection that store might have,
Rare KeithJenner Posted September 7, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2013 You have to select them when you buy the package, and get a slip for each bottle which states what it is. However, people have reported that they have been able to swap the wines for others in the same group. I've never tried myself as I've never had one that I didn't like (I'm not very fussy when it comes to wine and unless they are bad they are generally drinkable) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
clayb Posted September 7, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 7, 2013 Hmmm. The last time I bought a wine package it was on another cruise line. I did not have to select individual bottles until I was ready to order and drink them. I selected a "level" when I bought the package. There were certain bottles on each level. As you know, the more you pay, the better quality of wine. If you can't find any wine you like in any package, don't go with the package. Just try to find a complete fleetwide wine list online and see if there's something you like. Then you just order and pay for each bottle. You could pack bottles from home in bubble wrap and stick in your carry on. I have had success in wrapping them good and placing in my checked luggage. Of course, you always risk them being stolen that way.
don't-use-real-name Posted September 7, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 7, 2013 When you get on board the ship check with the pursers desk (registration) for the location of the where you can purchase the wine package(s). Recent NCL Sun voyage one was in the Atrium near the registration desk and another was up on the pool deck. You will be given a menu (look above for previous posts of copy). If you have looked the menu over previously (highly recommended) then you should be ready to order your selections right away. You show your stateroom card and sign the order form and will be given white slips of paper with the name of the wine you have ordered for each bottle you bought. You can take the white paper slip to any point of purchase (bar-restaurant) and get your wine to drink at that point or hand one or more to the cabin steward to have your wine bottles delivered to your stateroom. -OK- you have made your selection from the wine menu and later you don't like what you have ordered - simply if the wine has not been UNCORKED it can be exchanged for any other wine in the same category of what you have purchased. Any of the ships service crew should be able to do this - if not see the Pursers desk and ask for the "Bar Manager" for assistance (really you should not have to go this far - but just in case). You can buy additional bottles of wine during the voyage but will not get the reduced promotional prices on the wine menu from what I understand. AND REMEMBER - THERE IS "NO" CORKAGE FEE WHEN YOU BUY THE WINE FROM THE WINE MENU ! And it is a heck of lot more convenient to do this than to haul your own wine on board and lug it all over the ship AND THEN THE CORKAGE FEE! The problem is that many of the wines on the list I see are not ones we see in our local store here in Canada. Where we live , there is only one store to purchase alcohol in so we are limited to what they offer. I will try to find any of them and purchase at home to test, but it is good to know that we could exchange them. Also good to know we can have a few bottles delivered to our cabin. We are booked in a suite, so I assume our butler can help with this.

lamchops Posted September 7, 2013 #18 Share Posted September 7, 2013 As a wine lover and former hospitality manager I'm always curious as to the mark ups of wine. I have listed the USA (Total Wine) and the Canada (BCLS) aprox. prices. As a Canadian, it would be best to buy a package. As someone who loves Total Wine in the USA, I would bring on my own (better) wine and pay the $15 corkage. JMHO The 102% cdn duty & taxes on US wines are outrages. pjl1 Posted September 9, 2013 #19 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I am putting 1,2,or 3 stars behind the ones we had 3 being the best! This is a good way to go and the discounts are about 25% less than buying individually off the wine list. PeanutBudder Posted September 9, 2013 #21 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I am confused, as I called twice directly to NCL and both customer service reps said that they no longer offer a bottled wine package. You can bring on your own with a corkage fee but not buy a "bundled bottle wine"package from them. They are now just offering either the all drinks package or the wine/beer package where they charge you a set fee per day. I am a new cruiser so maybe I am wrong or asking NCL the wrong question? Would love to clarify as we are interested in a bottled wine package.
