Capitan Morgan Posted August 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Hi, I read in a review that the Steward doesn't refill the bucket with ice anymore, but room service take care of this. is that true? The review was dated back in 2012
wrigley80 Posted August 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2013 No that's not true in any cruise we've had. Our room steward has always filled our ice bucket in the morning and then again in the evening

The review was dated back in 2012 That is not true just ask him/her that you want ice 1or2 times a day .
earlethepearl Posted August 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2013 They no longer fill the bucket unless you request it. Just ask your first day and you will be fine.
Blueboss Posted August 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2013 They kept our ice bucket filled twice a day back in January. I ordered DH a cooler of beer from the Bon Voyage Dept. and they kept that filled as well until we no longer needed it and packed it away.
Ehpride Posted August 8, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2013 When we met the room steward, we just asked for ice every day. We got it with no problem.
RjayB Posted August 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Just off the Breeze July 28th - Room steward filled up ice bucket 2 times per day, and we never asked for it. :)

AZbeachboy Posted August 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I remember something like that on Carnival web site about a year ago when we took a cruise. But, when we got to our cabin we asked the steward and he said yes that we needed to call room service per policy, but he would be happy to do it. k2excursion Posted August 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I had heard something like that about a year ago around these boards. But on my last 2 cruises, we have had no problems getting ice, in our ice bucket & in our small cooler, both twice a day from the room stewards. Every cruise before that, they have always been terribly inconsistent, and we are usually hunting them down to get ice.
rdler Posted August 8, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I asked for ice on the Victory last month and never got it. I was able to get some ice from the bar.
Ditchdoctor Posted August 8, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2013 That's not true, at least on the Fantasy. I always give the Steward $20.00 the first day on the cruise and the ice bucket stays full the rest of the cruise.
jimdalva Posted August 8, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Last month on the Ecstasy asked for ice and waited two days than asked again before we got it. And this is after we pre tipped.
LambKnuckles Posted August 8, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I've found that your Cabin Steward can do just about anything, if you ask. I've never had problems with getting ice in the cabin. If there is a policy with 'that' ship, or 'that' cabin steward, they tell you how to get ice. But I have a feeling, you'll always have ice, if you ask!!! Express Man Posted August 8, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2013 We had no issue 2 cruises this year with ice. We even get room service first day while unpacking for a bucket of ice . We like the room service bucket as it a LOT bigger than tin bucket in cabin. Our room steward kept the normal and room service bucket's filled every day no issues. nybumpkin Posted August 8, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Last month on Legend we had to ask for an ice bucket, but our steward filled it twice a day. He also brought us a larger bucket with ice for the bottle of champagne we had.
funinthesun1964 Posted August 8, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 8, 2013 It's not "automatically" done anymore, you must ask. I've not had ice the last coupla cruises, even with a "hint" of a bottle of wine and some sodas on the desk. I finally did ask on one cruise, and received it about the third day. You could always go to Lido, go to a bar and ask for a bucket, and fill it yourself, if nothing else.
MrPete Posted August 8, 2013 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Hi, I read in a review that the Steward doesn't refill the bucket with ice anymore, but room service take care of this. is that true? The review was dated back in 2012 What's changed is they will no longer automatically do it unless you specify you wish to have ice. Then you will get it as normal. No need to throw money at them for this service.
okgirl Posted August 8, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 8, 2013 I have never had to request ice. It's always been full when I get to my cabin upon embarkation. I've also never had to wait more than a few hours for any special request I've given to my cabin steward.
sjcruiser Posted August 8, 2013 #20 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Our room steward always had our ice buckets filled, and if we needed more, we just picked up the phone and called him.
Rare mitsugirly Posted August 8, 2013 #21 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Hi, I read in a review that the Steward doesn't refill the bucket with ice anymore, but room service take care of this. is that true? The review was dated back in 2012 I had never been on Carnival before and took my first Carnival cruise 2 months ago on the Dream. Everyone was saying that was one of the many "cutbacks" that Carnival had done...not refilling your ice bucket unless you ask for it. Well, ours was filled every day with no problems and we never once ask for it. :)
trvlgrl422 Posted August 8, 2013 #22 Share Posted August 8, 2013 When I noticed that the bucket was in the room, it was the first thing I asked for when I saw the attendant. I didn't see him much throughout the cruise, but the bucket was refilled twice a day.
pinkiek Posted August 8, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 8, 2013 We have never had a problem getting our ice bucket filled. We also bring a small cooler and that gets filled twice a day too. You just have to ask.:)
All4fun&fun4all Posted August 8, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 8, 2013 We asked our steward to fill our small cooler and the ice bucket everyday and he did with no problems. Sometimes twice a day. We brought a couple of beer buckets back from lido one night and planned on bringing them back to lido after breakfast the next morning. When we came back from the MDR to pick up the buckets, our cooler was full, the metal ice bucket was full and so were the two beer buckets from lido. It was SILLY! We had an awesome steward. LandlockedCruiser01 Posted August 8, 2013 #25 Share Posted August 8, 2013 The cabin steward still refilled my ice bucket on my last cruise. I think the way room service enters the equation is this. Your steward will continue to refill the ice bucket when he does the twice-daily service. But if you need ice outside the times of service, then you call room service---not the steward---to get additional ice. It may have been different in the past.
