We would be pleased to receive some information from recent pax on the Sapphire. Thanks in anticipation of responses.

1. How does air conditioning in Mini-suites work?

2. What is the temperature like in the "any time" dining venues?

3. How does the vessel handle in heavy weather?

4. Is the crew in buffet equipped to assist mobility challenged pax?

5. What is situation re accommodation in showroom?

6. What are the "extras" we can expect to be charged for?

Again, thanks for replies.

1. Two thermostats. One opposite the bed, one on the wall opposite the couch.

2. If you are the first in the dining room, I'll be cool then warm up as it fills. I usually bring a light wrap.

3. It's a ship. How it handles seas depends on wind speed and direction, wave direction, height and speed, and ship speed and direction. The higher the deck, the more you'll feel ship movement. Stabilizers help with side-to-side movement but not forward-to-aft. The Sapphire handles seas as well as any other ship I've been on.

4. Yes.

5. Which showroom? Wheelchairs can be accommodated in the Princess Theater, Club Fusion, Explorer's Lounge, Wheelhouse, etc.

6. You will be charged a nightly hotel service charge per-person of $12; beverages other than tea and coffee (except for juice at breakfast, or iced tea, coffee or lemonade at lunch) are not included. Anything bottled, canned or dispensed at a bar are not included. Spa services, the Sanctuary, the Casino, tours, etc. are not included.

We've traveled on Sapphire Princess twice. Once during her inaugural season, and last year after her dry dock. We love this ship and are planning to sail her in Asia. Below are answers to your questions.

1. How does air conditioning in Mini-suites work?

We've only sailed in aft balcony cabins, but we never had an air conditioning problem in any room (and we crank it all the way down).

2. What is the temperature like in the "any time" dining venues?

We found them fine, but my DH never wore a jacket and we skipped formal night. Make sure you eat at all the "any time" dining venues and split the special at the table. It is something typically unique in each venue.

3. How does the vessel handle in heavy weather?

I had nightmares when we crossed the Tasman sea in 25 foot swells. The ship did fine, but I was a little scared. The wake view bar portholes were like looking at a washing machine.

4. Is the crew in buffet equipped to assist mobility challenged pax?

From what we've seen, yes.

5. What is situation re accommodation in showroom?

Unsure

6. What are the "extras" we can expect to be charged for?

This depends on what you want to pay for. For example, gratuities (most agree you should automatically plan for this as part of your cruise), soda, specialty coffee, alcohol, laundry (unless you are elite), specialty restaurants, ice cream bar, excursions, casino, bingo, photos taken by staff, spa treatments, certain fitness classes, sanctuary, art auctions, etc. Again, this depends on what you plan to spend money on.

Again, thanks for replies.

Mini-suites on the Sapphire do have a temperature control. It is not by temperature, just a dial to make it hotter or cooler. If memory serves me correctly, there may be two controls, one for the bed area and the second for the couch area.

I was comfortable in the anytime dining rooms, not too hot nor too cold. I usually find air conditioned rooms too cold for my liking.

I've lucked out on my sailings and had pretty calm weather. That being said, the ship does handle the seas very well.

The staff in the Horizon Court buffet are very accommodating and will be happy to assist in getting food or drinks.

Many of the venues are multiple levels and some areas of the theaters and lounges can not be navigated by a wheelchair but the ship is for the most part wheelchair and scooter friendly.

Pam pretty much covered the additional charges. Excursions at the ports are also extra. Sometimes transportation from the pier to the center of town is extra.

Milk (low fat/skim and regular) is also included.

Tap water with ice is also included.
