Jellyfish? August 2013

WE are headed to Bermuda on Celebrity Summit at the end of August 2013.

 

Are jellyfish currently an issue on the south shore beaches?

Where jellyfish are found is a function of winds and ocean currents. They can be here today and gone tomorrow, so whether they're an issue today has no bearing on whether they'll be an issue when you're in Bermuda. No sense worrying about something you have no control over.

I'm glad to hear that it's more of a day-to-day issue than a seasonal one.

I have been to Bermuda several times and have always see jelly fish. One time I was snorkeling around a ledge and was thankful I wear fins as I almost went right into a Man O War. :)

We were in Bermuda a couple of weeks ago, staying at the Fairmont Southampton. They had a sign at their beach warning about Man-o-War jellyfish, but we never saw any.

I came face to face with this beast while snorkeling in Jobsons Cove....

We just got back, were in Bermuda the 21st to 24th.

 

We rented a boat from Somerset Bridge and found a small beach on an island on the west side. There were a couple small jellyfish washed up on shore but nothing in the water.

 

We also went to Elbow beach. There was a sign to watch out, but I didn't see any jellies in the water or on the beach.

 

Have a great time and I wouldn't be worried about them.
