Every ship will have an area where you walk up and they give you a small plate. A taste if you will. You can get more then one. Check your fun times and they will tell you when it's happening. My review at the bottom has a couple pics of what I got there.
Rirruto Posted August 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2013 On the Liberty, it's a station on Deck 5 Promenade near the casino and coffee shop. You just walk up to the station and a staff member behind the counter will hand you a small plate of that day's samplings. There is usually a menu nearby describing the dish. You can walk up and get as many samples as you wish. Check out here for an idea of the menu and pics http://www.zydecocruiser.net/CarnivalConquest2012/menus/taste_bar.html
Sargent_Schultz Posted August 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2013 It's an appetizer station on Promenade Deck. No platters. They hand you a couple of appetizers on a plate, but you can go back again and again. The selection rotate through several of the specialty restaurants and more. e.g. on a 9 day cruise

cruizinisthebest Posted August 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2013 We enjoyed the taste bar on the Sensation every night last week. It was always from 5:30-8:00pm on the Promenade Deck. You can have more than one serving. And the last night they had a $5 taste bar drink special. I enjoyed it!
CakeGirl Posted August 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2013 Thanks so much for posting these pics. I've never heard of the taste bar. I can't wait to try it. Is is on all the ships? I'm sailing on the Breeze in September.

SASA13 Posted August 13, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 13, 2013 I think the Taste Bar took the place of the Sushi station ( free sushi) on some ships.

echo Posted August 14, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 14, 2013 I just hate that they always have these type things during my dinner time. 3:00-5:00 would be great.
stewpapa Posted August 14, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 14, 2013 I think it is silly. I've seen it and I don't understand the desire to stand in a line in the middle of an already crowded area (often by the casino where everyone walks through photographers, singers, shops and trivia games) just to get a bite of food. I will go to the buffet or MDR when I want to eat, but to each his own. Glad someone enjoys it. At least it doesn't stink like the Sushi station. JaniceB Posted August 14, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 14, 2013 The area wasn't very crowded on the Breeze. I enjoyed the samplings.

Not on any day. There were two people working the taste bar and it takes about 5 seconds to plate the samples. Never a line. Also didn't think the sushi station stunk. So yes, to each his or her own. elliair Posted August 14, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 14, 2013 I'm happy that they got rid of the sushi bar and put the taste bar in its place. I'm looking forward to trying the different foods offered.
pe4all Posted August 14, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Just for your info - when we were on the Breeze, both times the taste bar offered a small hot/cold breakfast buffet each morning. Was a nice place to go to beat the buffet crowds. Plenty to eat, and a nice choice. At lunchtime they made it into a salad bar, where you could pick your ingredients and dressing and they would mix up a nice fresh salad for you. Was a nice healthy option (except for the dressings) if that is what you want. Had a great spread of veggies to pick from, also!
TwinPrincessMermaids Posted August 14, 2013 #18 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Sorry, I found that HYSTERICAL. A 'platter'?! It was a TEENY TINY CUP, paper or disposable I think! It was something pork advertising their pay steakhouse. Ew. I don't eat pork. I never went back. A paper cup of pork does NOT make up for a missing sushi bar!!!

It says grab a quick sample before your meal, so I have a 6:00 seat time I will just try to be down there by 5:30 to try a sample...
waldocruiser1 Posted August 14, 2013 #21 Share Posted August 14, 2013 We wont miss the sushi bar, the only times we used it was walking past and stop to get some shrimp, no sushi, just the cold shrimp and sauce. They always looked at us like we were strange for not wanting the other things. oh yea, and when we borrowed a few plates when we were on the Dream, they had these really cool looking plates, our son now has a set of 8 that accidently got lost in our luggage. Who cares if they sell those plates at any Macy's across the county. You paid for your cruise so you're entitled to them.
