58Piano Posted August 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2013 We are a couple in our mid fifties. Not sure what to do. Never snorkled. Swimming with stingrays all around me sounds to icky. Did a tour of the area once. We hated the tour. Maybe a nice quite beach? Not sure about turtle farm? We have Sea World hear in Orlando to go to. cb at sea Posted August 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Just hop on the bus to 7 mile beach....the entire thing is public.....easy, and cheap (as far as that goes in GC!!!)...all public access points have chair/umbrella rentals...watersport rentals, and restrooms.....there are restaurant/bars on the beaches, too.. I don't enjoy snorkeling, or stingrays, etc....either. A beach day is lovely. There is shopping right across from the tender dock, if shopping is your thing. Oh...we're in our 50's too! caribsun Posted August 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2013 It would be quieter on the ship vs. any 7 mile beach club.;) There are plenty of quieter areas on 7 mile, just walk the beach to fine one. I think you should get your feet wet and try snorkeling at The Sunset House about a 20 minute walk from tenders. :) http://www.sunsethouse.com/#

I'm in my mid sixties and not in as good a shape as I used to be. I've been to most of the attractions there and don't want to go back to them. I've been thinking about doing the submarine tour as it isn't too physical and has gotten good reviews.
ISLABONITA Posted August 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2013 I have vacationed in GC 4times now and the first was a visit off a cruise ship. Even though husband and I love to snorkel there are many other areas you can visit. I too thought of swimming with the stingrays was not something I wanted to do but eventually did . I don't know how long you have in port but getting a car and driving North to Rum point and stopping at the brewery and the Queen Elizabeth botanical gardens is very nice too and on the way Pedro St. James historic site http://www.pedrostjames.ky/ http://www.grand-cayman-wanderer.com/botanic-gardens.html http://www.cib.ky/the-brewery-tour Smith Cove would be a nice quiet beach to relax and swim and even try snorkeling , facilities have bathroom & showers The turtle farm is in the opposite direction and quite small but the dolphin discovery center across the way is good . http://www.caymanislands.ky/activities/attractions/caymanturtlefarm.aspx check cayman activity guide dot com for a map and other ideas
58Piano Posted September 6, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted September 6, 2013 We decided to go on adventure. I booked Moby Dick Tours. This will be an experience swimming with stingrays. Everyone says its fun. I must get out of my shell and try something scary at least once in a lifetime. To mark off on my bucket list!
