Look at the Rowes Wharf water taxi. If you purchase a ticket to take the water taxi to the airport ($10/ pp) you can store your luggage at their office in Rowes Wharf. This is a great deal.

You can also look at a day pass on the water taxi or you can price a pickup at Black Falcon Terminal to go to Rowes Wharf to leave your luggage and a ride later across the harbor to airport. Lots of options.

Rowes Wharf is walking distance to Faneuil Hall, Downtown Crossing and the North End.

There is also luggage storage at South Station (where the Silver Line T, that passes the cruise terminal, stops).

According to the South Station website:

"Does the train terminal offer luggage storage?

There are no facilities at South Station Train Terminal to store baggage.

If you are traveling by Amtrak (617 345 7775), you can check with them about checking your bags in early; the baggage office is located at track 13.

Greyhound / PeterPan (617 526 1842) offers a service called Package Express that operates out of the Bus Terminal (adjacent to train terminal, 700 Atlantic Ave, 5th floor). They will hold bags for a small fee."

There is luggage storage in the South Station area on the fifth floor of the bus station. You have to look at the logistics of your day in Boston to figure out if either choice suits.

The first question is whether you can manage your luggage at all. For the bus station you have to take an elevator up one level and then wheel your bags to the set of elevators that go to the fifth floor. For Rowes Wharf you have to be able to wheel your luggage from the pier to the free shuttle bus stop to ride to your terminal.

If you can wheel your luggage from South Station the one block along track 1 to the bus station, then you can take the Silver Line from Black Falcon to South Station and late from South Station to the airport for $2.50pp for each trip.

Rowes wharf is a more convenient location for Faneuil Hall and the North End. South station is a more convenient transportation hub for accessing the rest of Boston.

Most people would be hard put to tell that they (train station and bus station) are two distinct locations/buildings vs. one location with train bays in one place and bus bays in another. By appearance, it looks like an older building attached to a more modern wing, with a parking structure off the back. Locals refer to them as South Station (vs. when the bus station used to be across the street, or even before that, near Arlington station). Staff in any location there, including the T subway, are aware of the luggage storage facility and can direct you.

Hello, we are also looking to store luggage for the day. Can you tell me how to get the water taxi after we disembark? For instance are they close by the cruise terminal etc. We would prefer, if possible to go into Boston for a few hours after our cruise before we go to the airport around 4pm.

Thanks for any help :)

Water taxi is not near the pier -- check out "Black Falcon Cruise Terminal" (pier) and "Rowes Wharf" (water taxi) on your favorite internet map site to see that it's a pretty good distance.

Silver Line from the pier to the South station bus terminal, as described above, might be your best option, as it seems the bus lines will store your bags "for a small fee"

The pier is IN Boston, so to "go into Boston" is not really the issue. Going to see the sights, however, might involve a taxi (maybe 5-10 minutes) or a combination of Silver Line to South Station and taxi/walk (longish with luggage, but just a few blocks otherwise) along the main waterfront street there.

If you get your luggage over to the water taxi facility to store it there, it is close to a some of the sights, and when you are ready, the water taxi goes to the airport.

Call Rowes Wharf watr taxi and see what they can offer you. Rowes Wharf to the Airport is $10. However, it is possible to arrange a water taxi pickup at Black Falcon and you may be able to get some sort of all day water taxi pass as well, but you have to call and discuss the options with the taxi service itself.

The number to call for information is 617-261-6620.

Rowes Wharf Water Taxi

(There is now also Boston Harbor Water Taxi/Shuttle which runs on a continuous loop, but not so near Black Falcon, just to Fan Pier & Liberty Wharf, so not to confuse the two services.)

The airport water taxi probably runs on a schedule, but if you want to be picked up at Black Falcon, you would have to call to see what the arrangement is.

I've used the airport water taxi, but not the Black Falcon to Rowes Wharf route. You would want to find out how close the water taxi pickup is to the terminal to decide if that is a good option instead of a cab. They offer a $25/day unlimited use package, but that may not be cost effective unless you want to go to the Constitution or the JFK Library or some other pier that is not easily accessible.

You really have to pick up the phone and talk to them. Several folks who have posted here have made customized arrangements to suit their particular plans and been very happy.

The cab fare to Rowes Wharf should be under $15, but the cab fare from Rowes Wharf to the airport would be $25-30, so the airport water taxi with free luggage storage is a good deal.
