Getaway @ Atlantis

I'm booked on April 12th getaway Eastern Caribbean. I was looking at excursions and I was surprised that there is no option for the water park excursion. I had wanted to go to aqua adventure and at 99/person it was cheaper than buying directly from Atlantis. I called shore excursions desk and they told me that because the ship is there from 12 - 7 they can't offer aqua adventure

1. Would it be worth it to do aqua adventure on my own?

2. Is there any chance itinerary will change? With 3 sea days built in why can't they do a full day at Nassau?

3. What are highlights of St. Marten and St. John? I ask because another option would be switching to Breakaway from NYC. That ship does a full day at Nassau, the private island and Port Canaveral. I would also not have to pay for airfare as I live in NYC. The downside is I already did breakaway to Bermuda and would want new entertainment.

Thoughts?

My guess is that most people think a half day in Nassau is plenty. It is probably the least favorite port based on comments here. Some people don't even get off the ship.

If you go over to the Ports area here, you will find boards for St Martin and St John ( St John will be under the St Thomas board I think. You get there by ferry from St Thomas.) Lots of info there on tours etc.

I would stick with the Getaway.

Yes I've been reading that it's "in" to dislike Nassau but I def wanted to check out Atlantis!

Go to the Ports of Call board under Bahamas. You will find tons of info on Nassau. I would think you would have plenty of time to go to the Aqua Park at Atlantis. Traffic across the bridge to Paradise Island can be very heavy. Make sure you give yourself enough time coming back to the ship.

Just returned from 5 days at the Atlantis. There is a kiosk in the middle of the casino that sells Aquaventure passes, I believe it was $139 for adults and $89 for children. I don't know why NCL doesn't offer this excursion, I saw tours from Princess, Disney, and Carnival being escorted to the pool area, given instructions on where to find everything and then left on their own.

They have done the Atlantic aqua adventure on Epic for years. I was surprised they did it with the limited amount of time. I have been to Atlantis on the Sky for the full day. It was a big seller but if Atantis is sold out, they will not sell the excursions to cruise passengers.

But if NCL completely took away the excursion, it was probably the fact that they felt their passengers will being ripped off. Atlantis sells a full day pass for everything and what use is it if you are only there for 3 1/2 hours. I was always wondering why there were not more complaints on the board about this excursion and the limited amount of time passengers have to enjoy the park.

Yes when I was thinking of the gem this summer, the ship got in early in am and had a full day at water park. I checked the breakaway departure April 13 and it also has an 8 am arrival at Nassau. Wonder why getaway can't do a full day in Nassau especially because it doesn't stop at the private island either

Check out the Comfort Suites option for Nassau...you get up to four tickets to Atlantis by booking a room there even if you don't stay overnight, and it's right across the street. They are used to people booking the rooms just to get access to Atlantis.

For St. Maarten, check out Bernard's Tours...great overview of the island.

Thank you. Does anyone know if the half day package includes access to Atlantis' pool? I mainly wanted water park for lazy river but will settle for nice pool.

NCL only offers this excursion for $99 during off peak seasons anyway - I've seen it cost as much at $170, I believe, during popular times. The slides and pools don't open until 10 anyway, and if your ship doesn't get in until 12, you probably wouldn't even have 3 hours there (traffic builds up on the bridge going back). No matter where you get the pass from, it's going to cost you $100+ pp, for a short amount of time.

ETA - that's Easter week! They would've had to charge you a premium for that pass, for only a few hours (closes at 5), and the lines would be crazy. I doubt you will be able to buy them from Atlantis, as they don't sell them to the public during busy times.

Go to the Sheraton and get a daypass for $30 - 15 cab ride from the port, nice pool and beach.
